The rate of remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy. In accordance with Departmental Circular Letter EL 02/2011, a person who is not a serving local authority employee on or after 1st January 2011, will enter the scale at the minimum point. The salary shall be fully inclusive and shall be as determined from time to time. The awarding of increments is subject to satisfactory service. Holders of the office shall pay to the local authority any fees or other monies (other than their inclusive salary) payable to or received by them by virtue of their office or in respect of any services which they are required by or under any enactment to perform. Superannuation Contribution Persons who become pensionable officers of a local authority who are liable to pay the Class A rate of PRSI contribution will be required in respect of their superannuation to contribute to the local authority at the rate of 1.5% of their pensionable remuneration plus 3.5% of net pensionable remuneration (i.e. pensionable remuneration less twice the annual rate of social insurance old age contributory pension payable at the maximum rate to a person with no adult dependent or qualified children). Persons who become pensionable officers of a local authority for the first time on or after 1st January 2013 will be liable to pay Class A PRSI Contribution and will be required in respect of their superannuation to contribute at the rate of 3.5% of net pensionable remuneration plus 3% of pensionable remuneration. Hours of Duty The standard working week will be 35 Hours. As opening hours of libraries are tailored to the public’s needs, the Senior Library Assistant will in general be expected to work hours in keeping with the staff rota at the relevant service point. The working hours at present provide for a 35-hour working week, which may be a 6/4 day fortnight and will include Saturdays and late evening working hours as part of a normal roster. The post may require flexibility in working outside of normal hours. A premium is payable to all staff who work on Saturdays. The Council reserves the right to alter your hours of work from time to time. All hours worked will be subject to the provisions of the Organisation of Working Time Act, 1997 and the Organisation of Working Time Act (Regulations) 2001. Citizenship Candidates must, by the date of any job offer, be; (a) A citizen of the European Economic Area (EEA). Travel and subsistence expenses for your position will be paid in accordance with the agreed rates which may be revised from time to time. SECTION 1: THE ROLE Assistant Fire Officers are key members of staff responsible for the delivery of public safety services. Reporting to an Assistant Chief Fire Officer, or such designated persons as may be assigned from time to time, the Assistant Fire Officer will work as part of a team within the Fire & Building Control Department. He/She will also be required to work independently on his/her own initiative as circumstances demand. SECTION 2: DUTIES The duties may include but are not limited to the following and the post holder may be required to perform other duties as appropriate to the post which may be assigned to him/her from time to time and to contribute to the development of the post while in office. 1. Technical assessment of Building Control applications; 2. Provide technical advice to design teams and other council departments in relation to Fire Safety and Building Control matters; 3. Inspect buildings under the Fire Services Act, the Building Control Act and Dangerous Substances legislation, compile inspection reports and carry out all necessary follow-up action; 4. Represent Cork County Council in District and Circuit Courts on matters relating to Fire Safety and Building Control; 5. Ensure compliance in the workplace with the requirements of Health & Safety legislation; 6. Perform duties in relation to Community Fire Safety, Fire Operations and Emergency Management as may be assigned; 7. Undergo such training as considered appropriate to the performance of the duties of the office; 8. Undertake any other duties which are appropriate to the post and necessary for efficient and effective performance. SECTION 3: ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA / QUALIFICATIONS 1. A degree at Level 8 in a science or technology related discipline including, physics, chemistry, environmental or computer science, information communications technology; or a fire related discipline including fire safety, emergency management or emergency services, or iv. A degree at Level 8 together with a Level 9 qualification in a fire related discipline including fire safety, emergency management or emergency services. b) Have at least 2 years satisfactory relevant experience. c) Be competent to perform efficiently the duties of the Office The successful candidate will be supported with training and mentoring as necessary in the following areas: a) Technical Fire Safety b) Building Regulations c) Fire Service Operations 4. Age Age restrictions shall only apply to a candidate where he/she is not classified as a new entrant within the meaning of the Public Services Superannuation Act, 2004. A candidate who is not classified as a new entrant must be under 70 years of age 5. Transport holders of the office shall hold a full driving licence for Class B Vehicles as recognised in the Republic of Ireland and shall drive a motor car in the course of their duties and for this purpose provide and maintain a car to the satisfaction of the local authority. 6. Community Liason Case Worker  Cork Service  Fixed Term 6 Months – 35 hours per week  Salary €37,109.46 per annum Role  This role offers a fantastic opportunity to be a member of a multi-disciplined team using holistic approaches to support Depaul service users. Working within the principal of harm minimisation where residents receive a high degree of care, support and dignity, Depaul has a commitment to service user participation and to empowering residents to manage their own lives. This role works across a 7-day week rota,and commences with increased annual leave days and other added benefits. Key Areas of Responsibility  The core pillars of work for this service are:  Maintain of relationships with local community residents, organizations, businesses and relevant stakeholders. Support in planning, development and implementation of positive changes in line with expectancies. Lead on developing a local forum and share minutes and actions with local and senior management team and escalate issues as appropriate.  Ensure Depaul’s Good Neighbourhood Policy is being implemented within the service and support service users in adhering to policy expectancies  In partnership with service users, to assess their needs and develop workable support plans, with regular reviews on the progression of agreed goals. To advocate effectively on behalf of service users and refer them to support agencies.  To report on work to team and partner agencies.  To ensure all resident files are kept up to date.  To work from a strong housing-led approach to support service-users in securing move-ons and in their transition to long term community living.  Life Skills – Assessment and Practical Support - Building on existing life skills interventions to empower individuals in a more independent setting.  Relational Security Support – Managing risks relating to service  Supporting residents - To maintain positive Mental Health  Visiting Support to service users living independently in community  Interagency working with Partner agency  Engagement with statutory agencies (Local Authorities/CWO etc.)  Managing service related risks  Ensuring excellent health and safety standards are maintained  The above list is not exhaustive; additional areas of responsibility may be added over time and flexibility to cover for other staff roles is required from time to time. ​​​​​​​What we can offer you  Diversity and inclusion is championed within Depaul, with staff drawn from all walks of life.
