A work from home tax relief refund worth €800 a year is available

Thousands of Irish workers entitled to claim "working from home" tax relief could be due hundreds in refunds .

Are you eligible for this tax relief?

If you work from home, you could be entitled to a substantial tax relief that you may not be aware of.

According to estimations, over 100,000 people work "mainly at or from home" in Ireland, and recent statistics from the CSO show that this number has been growing by over 2,000 people every year.

Experts at Taxback.com claim that based on their experience with clients, the vast majority of the 100,000 people who work from home are unaware of their eligibility to claim tax relief on expenses incurred while working from home.

Taxback say that home workers and e-workers who work from home on a full or part-time basis can qualify for this relief.

Eileen Devereux, Commercial Director at Taxback.com explained: "These days, it’s common for PAYE employees to work from home on a full or part-time basis. As we move further away from traditional work structures, jobs are becoming more flexible than ever.

"While there are many pro’s and con’s to working from home, one of the lesser known benefits of remote working can come in the form of a valuable tax break on the cost of additional home heating, electricity and broadband use.

"We process hundreds of tax refunds for people in Ireland every day and the number of people who apply for this credit is very small. So based on our own experience, we believe most who working from home are simply not aware that they can claim this tax benefit."

If you do work from home and get a bit of cash out of this, don't forget who told you. Fair? Visit the Taxback website here for more information.
