Job Description & Summary

Our FDI/DIO group comprises of 19 Partners and 613 Professionals across our Dublin and Regional offices. Between FDI & DIO we provide audit and other assurance services to fast growing, dynamic and established sectors of the economy. We use our industry expertise and experience in serving a wide range of clients across Retail and Consumer, Public Services, Pharmaceutical, Natural Resources, Technology, Information & Communications and Entertainment.
This role is specifically for the Referred Reporting Audit Engagement (RRAE) Hub which operates within the FDI/DIO Group. The RRAE Hub is a team specialising in the delivery of Referred Reporting Audit Engagements (RRAEs), with the assistance of work performed by an overseas performing firm from within the PwC network. This centralised team provides a consistent and standardised approach to delivering RRAEs. Through centralisation the team has built specialist knowledge and works to ensure consistency in execution. The hub operates as a centre of excellence for these engagements across the Assurance practice with a focus on high quality and efficiency.

The role is that of manager within a collaborative team who work to deliver RRAE audits across a wide range of industries including subsidiaries of overseas clients across retail, manufacturing, natural resources, technology and information and communications.

Your Responsibilities

  • Liaison with the Hub engagement leaders keeping them informed of issues and progress;

  • Communication with, and management of relationships with, the overseas performing firms who perform varying levels of audit work to support the statutory audit;

  • Agreement of scheduling for individual audits with overseas teams for a designated portfolio of audits;

  • Review of staff allocation and comparison with original requisition and budgeted fees;

  • Agreeing timetable with overseas teams, client contacts and internal teams (as required);

  • Organisation and review of work (delegation as agreed with engagement leader);

  • Keeping on top of movements in outstanding jobs as a result of changes in delivery of overseas teams/client timings/staff allocations;

  • Attendance at manager meetings, including weekly RRAE hub meeting with engagement leaders;

  • Discussing workload with the staff working in the hub on a bi-weekly basis;

  • Organisation of frequent calls with individual overseas teams where deemed necessary (useful during busy periods to ensure performing firm audits are progressing as needed to meet agreed timelines);

  • Organising engagement leader review time and interactions as needed.


Individual manager responsibilities:

  • Review of overseas performing firm audit files and client audit files – planning through to completion, incorporating review of financial statements;

  • Conducting engagement assessments;

  • Budgeting and determination of resource requirements;

  • Organising engagement leader meetings for both planning and completion with overseas teams and client teams as appropriate;

  • Drafting board reports (as required), engagement letters and audit representation letters;

  • Develop client relationships and relationships with overseas performing teams;

  • Liaison in relation to planning of statutory audit sign offs with the engagement leader;

  • Appraisals for staff members;

  • Assuming a coaching performance management role that aligns staff development with our Connected Thinking;

  • Preparation and delivery of fee quotes and proposal information on an ad hoc basis; and

  • Participating in recruitment activities at graduate level.

Experience Required:

  • At least 5 years practice accounting experience in a Big 4 firm or other international accounting firm.

Skills and Personal Qualities:

  • A solid track record of demonstrated career achievements and academic excellence, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills;

  • A commitment to exceptional client service and intellectual curiosity;

  • The ability to interact with various levels of client and firm management as well as overseas teams and to build effective working relationships with the overseas teams in particular.

  • Detailed understanding of Irish and US GAAP and GAAS;

  • Excellent project management skills and ability to manage signing timelines and expectations for audits;

  • Ability to manage relationships at all levels within PwC (both in Ireland and with the overseas performing teams) and with the client contacts (as relevant);

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multitasked, fast-paced and changing environment;

  • Proven leadership, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills;

  • Ability to work on multiple engagements concurrently.
