Course Co-ordinator, Haematology/oncology Foundation Programme
Purpose of the Role
To co-ordinate and facilitate the education of nursing staff undertaking the Foundation Programme in Haematology –Oncology Nursing in collaboration the Centre of Children’s Nurse Education (CCNE) and University college Dublin (UCD). The post holder will be pivotal in the co-ordination and management of ongoing education and support for nursing staff in the Haematology –Oncology environment.
- In collaboration with the St Johns’ & HODU management, CNF team, CCNE and UCD to develop and deliver course content and facilitate students for the duration of the course.
- To amend course content based on evaluation and implement changes accordingly.
- To be innovative and pro-active in the promotion of the Foundation Programme in Haematology –Oncology both internally and externally.
- To meet the learning and professional development requirements of staff nurses undertaking the programme
- To assist these nurses assume the role of competent practitioners in the Haematology –Oncology setting
- To support and maintain a system of preceptorship for these staff within Haematology –Oncology division.
- To offer an education/training to nursing staff that promotes best practice in nursing care.
- To assist the haem/onc CNEFs in educating and helping staff reach their potential
Essential Criteria:
· RCN/ RGN with 5 years paediatric experience
· RCN/RN Child branch with 5 years Post Graduate experience or RGN with 5 years acute paediatric experience
· Minimum 2 years’ experience in Haematology-Oncology
· Successfully completed a Preceptorship programme Graduate Diploma in appropriate speciality or a willingness to undertake within 2 years.
· Ability to co-ordinate effectively
· Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively
· Ability to work as autonomous practitioner
Ability to persuade and influence others
