General Operative

About the role

We are currently recruiting for General Operatives in our Kerry site in Listowel.

It is a full-time, seasonal position. The shift will depend on a team you join, and it can be either 12 hours a day, 4 days on 4 days off or 8 hours a day, Monday to Friday. Overtime is available.

The General Operative role itself is varied, and depending on your skills and training, you can be assigned to the different parts of the site. Any previous experience as a production operative, warehouse operative, forklift operative, line operative or machine operator will be an advantage.

Listowel is where Kerry Group originated more than 50 years ago and grew from a small dairy company to global multinational. The Kerry Listowel site has one of the largest facilities in Kerry, where we process large quantities of milk to produce range of products, like Dairy Proteins, Primary Dairy Ingredients, Dairy Flavours and more. It has been at the forefront of technological developments in dairy ingredients for over thirty years. It’s closely located to N69 road and it’s 20 minutes by walk from the Listowel town centre.

What will you be doing?

  • Meeting production targets daily.
  • Managing stock requirements, from ordering ingredients to packaging materials and stock taking.
  • Operating forklift; transferring packaging; loading and unloading deliveries.
  • Quality checks; sampling products and chemical make-up and testing.
  • Machine cleaning.
  • Accurate recording of plant running conditions.
  • Following Health and Safety regulation and taking responsibility for your own and your colleagues’ safety.

What skills are we looking for?

  • A third level qualification or equivalent is desirable, but not essential.
  • A Leaving Certificate qualification or equivalent is required.
  • Previous manufacturing experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of the plant processes and products.
  • Able to operate according to ‘clean as you go’ policy.
  • Willing to learn Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Be organized, systematic and should be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. Strong attention to detail.
  • Flexible and adaptable to respond to changing demands.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office tools.
  • Great teamwork skills
