Your Role: 

You will be responsible for developing, leading and driving the Corporate Affairs and Communications Strategy for the Bank, incorporating all external reputation management and internal colleague communications.

This role has responsibility for developing and leading the Corporate Affairs and Communications Strategy across all internal and external communications, including Corporate Communications, Media Relations, Political Engagement, Consumer PR, social media, and Internal Communications for c.3000 colleagues across 100 locations.

Your Team:

Reporting directly to the Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer, this is a senior leadership role that requires the utmost integrity, trust and ability to navigate the needs of multiple and sometimes competing stakeholder requirements.

You will lead a team of eight Corporate Affairs and Communications professionals, with three direct report managers. You will also be the primary Relationship Owner of a number of key third-party supplier relationships with accountability for associated contract negotiations and oversight, and third-party risk assessments.

Your Responsibilities:

Enterprise Leadership

  • Provide advisory council to senior leadership, including members of the Board, Executive Team and Senior Leadership Team on all Corporate Affairs and Communications matters, including crisis communications and sensitive reputational issues.
  • Be a trusted advisor to the Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer and wider Executive Committee and be the lead Corporate Affairs advisor for key business and strategic programmes, counselling senior leadership across the business. 

Functional Strategy & Delivery

Corporate Affairs, PR and Social Media

  • Oversee the development and delivery of a best-in-class reputation management, external communications and public affairs strategy, ensuring that all activity is aligned with the Bank¿s Ambition, Purpose and Business Strategy and further enhances the Bank¿s reputation.
  • Accountability for all corporate and consumer PR, including oversight of the development and delivery of the Bank¿s Reflecting Ireland and Reflecting Business research, as well as consumer PR activation to support the Bank¿s sponsorship strategy.

Internal Communications

  • Further evolve the Internal Communications Strategy building on the success of recent years, including a refreshed approach to internal communications business partnering
  • Oversight and accountability for the Bank¿s internal communications channels, including the Bank¿s internal social channel and bank-wide townhall engagement.

Functional Leadership & Management

  • Responsibility for Corporate Affairs and Communications budgets and lead Corporate Affairs engagement in the annual integrated planning process.
  • Represent the Bank at internal and external forums as required.

Risk Management & Control

  • Drive risk awareness aligned to the risk appetite of the PTSB.
  • Identify risks and have mitigating and control factors in place.

Lead an inspiring Culture

  • Lead your team ensuring that your direct reports are engaged and motivated to deliver for the Bank.
  • Work in partnership with your team to support their professional development.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Own and manage relationships with external partners including PR agencies and industry groups.
  • Work with external partners to establish and deliver clear plans and objectives

Requirements: 

Essential

  • Subject matter expert in corporate affairs, media relations, social media and internal communications, with a consistent track record of reputation management, delivery of high impact corporate affairs and communications strategies, including crisis communication.
  • Have a deep understanding and knowledge of the broader financial services landscape in Ireland, as well as the media and political landscape.
  • Substantial experience in developing communications strategies for critical transformation programmes across a large and complex organisation.
  • Demonstrable evidence of leading large-scale strategic projects and initiatives, given multiple competing priorities and different stakeholders
