The Dublin Waste to Energy project is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) between Dublin City Council and Covanta, a world leader in sustainable waste management and renewable energy solutions, to build, own and operate a new 600,000 metric tonne per year, 58 net megawatt Energy-from-Waste facility in Dublin. The facility will provide the Dublin region with a long-term sustainable and environmentally superior waste management solution, enabling it to divert post-recycled waste from landfills and become locally self-sufficient in managing waste, consistent with regional, national and EU waste policies.

**Apprentice:
This role is located in Dublin Ireland and will report to the Mechanical Team Lead. The apprentice Mechanical Fitter will serve as an integral member of the maintenance and engineering team in a energy from waste power plant.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a high standard of work, adhere to schedules and be a good communicator with strong interpersonal skills. the successful candidate will also have good self-awareness, creativity, act decisively and be a team player.
If successful, the candidate must attend block releases through a number of phases throughout the 4-year apprenticeship program.

Key Duties / Responsibilities:
• Provide support to the on-site maintenance and engineering personnel in daily routine and non-routine tasks.
• Opportunity to provide technical support to various cross functional teams throughout the site.
• To undertake and successfully complete suitable college courses throughout the training period, achieving the academic grades and practical skills in order to entitle yearly progression.
• To develop the skills to construct or modify equipment from verbal instructions and drawings.
• Use of permit to work system and other on-site safety systems to control engineering activities

In addition
• Observing, learning and understanding a wide range of engineering skills and processes while under the instruction of skilled technical staff.
• To be able to demonstrate these skills and processes as the training period progresses by working independently or with a team, to undertake tasks as instructed and increasing overall contribution to the department.
• Learning and understanding the importance of Health and safety within the workplace.
• To learn how to maintain workshop equipment and to keep it in good repair.
• To maintain a logbook over the duration of the apprenticeship period, recording projects that have been undertaken and the skills learned.
• To maintain and to ensure general good housekeeping of the workplace and work areas.
• To perform any other duties appropriate to the role.

Position Requirements: Requirements (Education, Skills)
Ordinary-Level Grade D / O6 or higher in the Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) in the following subjects:
1) Irish or English
2) Mathematics
3) Science Subject (Agricultural Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Physics & Chemistry)
4) Any 2 other subjects
