Marine Service Technician / Engineer OR Apprentice

We at Martek Ltd are a Marine Electronics Sales and Service Company.

Servicing all the Irish ports and commercial shipping.

We are actively looking for a Service Technician for repair of Marine electronic products such as Radar, Radio, ECDIS and Gyrocompass and Steering systems onboard a variety of vessels from small boat leisure craft to large tankers.

Basic Skill requirements:

• Good foundation in electronic control systems – preferable a diploma in Electronics or similar.
• Good foundation in general electrical installation.
• Good report writing skills and organisational skills.
• Strong Computer skills for both operation and repair.
• Knowledge of computer networks in particular TCP/IP networks
• Willing to travel in Ireland and overseas – often at short notice.
• Good wiring skills – neat work-man ship, in particular for installation works.
• Full driving licence.
• Minimum 2 Years of Experience on Radar and Marine Radio will be a big advantage to any applicant.
• Good command of the English language written and spoken.

Working hours are mainly Monday to Friday 8.30 to 5 but weekend work and out of hours is required as we are an emergency service industry.

Additional Info:

• Specific Training will be provided on the products – primarily at the manufacturer’s premises.
• A company car is offered with the position after suitable probation period.
• There is a short written technical exam during the interview – about 1 hour.
