Money Laundering Reporting Officer MLRO

Reporting to the CEO, the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) will have a background in compliance, be responsible for managing the MLRO function in the Credit Union and will:

  • Identify and ensure the Credit Union complies with all statutory and regulatory obligations,
  • Maintain a high level of expertise in legislation, regulation and best practice in the areas of Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), and Financial Sanctions (FS).
  • Receive and act on Suspicious Transaction Reports (STR) and report to the relevant authorities, where justified,
  • Maintain AML/CFT records, including STRs, monitoring reports and audits/reviews,
  • Ensure all directors, relevant committees, employees and volunteers receive AML/CFT training on an annual basis and retain training records.
  • Report to the CEO and Board of Directors (as required) on the overall level of compliance with AML, CFT and FS regulations
  • Produce and present regulatory reports, as required,
  • Liaise with the Central Bank of Ireland, the Revenue Commissioners, the Garda Siochana and other regulatory authorities and representative bodies on matters relating to AML/CFT,
  • Assist and advise the CEO on discharging his responsibility for “implementing the proper systems of internal control which the board of directors have approved” as per S63A(4)(f) of the Credit Union Acts 1997-2012, including updates to AML/CFT policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have:·

  • Experience in a compliance function and existing qualifications or working towards qualifications relevant to the MLRO duties (e.g. ACOI Certificate / Diploma, CUC, QFA, CUA), with a commitment to complete further studies and training supported by the Credit Union,
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role with an emphasis on AML/CFT and compliance in an entity regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland,
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently,
  • An understanding of the legislative and regulatory environment governing retail financial services.


Salary will be highly competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
