Personal Assistant - To Support Independent Living
PERSONAL ASSISTANT REQUIRED
Location: Ballymun Dublin 11
Pay: From €16 D.O.E (Anti-Social and Sunday rates apply)
Hours: Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday 17.5 hours per week
Job Description:
The ÁT Network are looking to hire a Personal Assistant to work with an independent young woman who is a power wheelchair user. We are a charitable organisation who work alongside the HSE to help people with disabilities all over Ireland live an independent and full life by supporting them to hire their own team of Personal Assistants.
You will be part of a team of Personal Assistants providing hands on support with personal care, household tasks, and social and recreational activities.
This role plays a key part in supporting independent living and ensuring the young woman has choice, autonomy, and control in all areas of her life.
Successful candidates will receive appropriate training for this role This position is suited to a highly motivated and reliable individual who is committed to providing care and supporting someone to live independently within their community.
DUTIES
- Assist with attending hospital appointments.
- Support with the preparation and cooking of meals.
- Provide personal care, including showering, toileting, hair care, and skincare.
- Change catheter bags between day and night use.
- Assist with cleaning duties, including the bathroom and bedroom.
- Support with general life administration tasks as required.
- Be willing to attend events and social activities when required for social support.
DESIREABLE QUALITIES
- An understanding of disability and the Independent Living movement.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow clear instructions.
- Fluency in English is essential.
- Trustworthy, with a strong awareness of the importance of confidentiality.
- Patience is essential; a good sense of humour and a positive attitude are a distinct advantage.
- Ability to listen and learn
- A full driving licence is an advantage but not essential.
- Must have the legal right to work in Ireland.
- Compassionate, empathetic, and understanding.
- Flexible and adaptable.
- FETAC Level 5 in Social Care or equivalent training or relevant experience
