Radiation Therapist, Clinical Specialist, University Hospital

Cork University Hospital, abbreviated as CUH, is the largest university teaching hospital in Ireland with over 40 different medical and surgical specialties on the campus housing 1000 in-patient beds.

CUH is the tertiary referral centre for the HSE Southern area, and the supra regional area of Limerick, Clare, Tipperary, Waterford and Kilkenny. CUH therefore acts as a regional centre for secondary and tertiary care for the catchment population of 550,000 served by the HSE Southern area and a supra-regional centre for a total a population of 1.1 million.

A new state of the art Radiation Oncology facility is now open and houses cutting edge technology including 5 Elekta Versa HD Linear Accelerators capable of SABR/SRS along with Surface-guided radiotherapy on all Linac’s. The department also has 2 GE CT simulators and a brachytherapy suite.

The Role of the Radiation Therapist:

To provide specialist clinical care within a team of Radiation Therapists in the day to day provision of safe and accurate radiotherapy services.
