Post SummaryIDS-TILDA is a longitudinal study researching ageing in Ireland among people with anintellectual disability aged 40 and over. This study is the first of its kind in Europe, and the only study able to directly compare the ageing of people with intellectual disability with the general ageing population.

The underpinning values of IDS-TILDA are inclusion, choice, empowerment, person centred, the promotion of people with intellectual disability, the promotion of best practice and to make a contribution to the lives of people with intellectual disability.

The study aims to identify the principal influences on successful ageing in persons withintellectual disability, and then determine if they are the same or different from the influences for the general population. A second aim is to develop a first wave baseline picture of ageing among persons with intellectual disability and a cohort of subjects that may then be followed longitudinally.

The objectives of the study include:• To understand the health characteristics and status of persons with intellectualdisability as they age.• To examine the service needs and health service utilization of older persons withintellectual disability as compared to the general population.• To identify disparities in the health status of older persons with intellectual disability ascompared to findings yielded by TILDA for the general population.• In preparation for longitudinal follow-up, to determine potential.• Risk factors for ill health.• Facilitators of good health and longevity.• Biological and environmental components of successful ageing

The diversity of the research group reflects the multi-disciplinary nature of the study andincludes world leading researchers in geriatrics, psychiatry, psychology, pharmacy, dentistry, social science, health economics and health care management. IDS- TILDA has established a wide network of collaborators both within Ireland and internationally which ensures that IDS- TILDA remains on the cutting edge of research into ageing and ID

We are looking to hire a Research Assistant (IDS-TILDA Research Operations Manager) at 50% FTE to join the IDS-TILDA Senior Project Management Team. The person will work with closely with the Principal Investigator, Professor Mary McCarron, the Project Manager, and the Data Manager who will act as a Co-Line Manager to the Research Assistant alongside the Project Manager.

Standard Duties and Responsibilities of the PostThe duties and responsibilities of the successful candidate will include the following:

Pre/Post Award Management -• Manage and monitor pre-award and post-award grant management for IDS-TILDAWave 5, ensuring that the grant is compliant with governance and auditingrequirements.• Produce annual financial reports as part of the annual reporting process for the funderon behalf of the Principal Investigator and Project Manager.• Keep up-to date finance and project data records to meet audit requirements.• Liaise with Principal Investigator and research staff to generate reports for awardinginstitutions on project expenditure and progress.• Manage enquiries from grant holder and if applicable, prepare no cost extensions.

Strategy Management –• Support the delivery of the Centre’s Research Strategy, ensuring good practice in allresearch funding processes.• Collaborate with Academics in the development of research funding applications forbolt on studies.

Engagement and Impact Management -• Liaise with all research staff and prepare a research spotlight each month for thewebsite to showcase the ongoing work of the IDS TILDA.• Prepare research findings reports for The Trinity Centre for Ageing and ID Executive.• Assist research staff with event management and delivering activities to supportmeaningful involvement of people with an intellectual disability.• Prepare and oversee communication strategies including newsletters and conferenceevents.• Preparation of bibliometric reports for IDS-TILDA publications• Preparation of annual report for Dean of Research.• Produce promotional and project materials using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva andMicrosoft Office software for conferences, events, and publications.

Research Project Management• Provide oversight to ensure that the IDS-TILDA grant is managed in accordance withsponsors terms and conditions.• Guide and advise Academics in the preparation of new grants.• Liaise with funders and the Principal Investigator to ensure satisfactory reporting andtroubleshooting enquiries.• Manage the project mailing list in accordance with GDPR regulations.

Person Specification

QualificationsEssential - A third-level qualification in a relevant discipline.Desirable – An MA or MSc in a relevant discipline.

Knowledge & Experience (Essential & Desirable)Skills and experience are required in the following areas:Essential:

• A minimum of three years’ experience in a relevant role is essential.• Ability to work both under his/her own supervision and ability to use initiative isessential.• Experience of pre-award and post-award research grant management.• Experience of working on a large-scale research project.

Desirable:• Experience of working with an established research centre.• Experience of working with people with an intellectual disability.• Knowledge of the ID service system in Ireland
