Senior Quantity Surveyor

Role Overview
The role of the Quantity Surveyor will be to efficiently and effectively provide professional surveying support to the Commercial Director and the Project Management team, implementing commercial and contractual processes and systems on projects.

What you'll do
  • Provide commercial expertise to aid with the delivery of the contracted work by taking the commercial lead in a team.
  • Commercial review and risk analysis of potential contracts and review of contract documentation throughout the contract period.
  • Procurement of supply chain at project commencement and throughout the course of the project i.e. issue enquires, compile comparisons for sign off in line with DLA limits and draft and ensure execution of relevant Subcontracts.
  • To ensure commercial security and control of contracts under tender and throughout the project including execution and delivery

What you'll bring
As a Quantity Surveyor, your main skills and experience will include:

Essential Criteria
  • Third level qualification in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role preferably within a Maintenance or Civil Engineering Company
  • Commercially aware of economies and efficiencies
  • Experience in cost reporting and procurement.
  • Detailed understanding of Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR), preparation, forecasting principles and monthly reporting.
  • Ability to work independently or effectively within a team contributing across a business unit or area.
  • Negotiation and settlement of disputes and accounts relating both to customers and suppliers.
  • Management of various contracts and subcontractors, ensuring company compliance with all necessary contractual and statutory obligations
  • Preparation of cashflows
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Full Valid driving license
  • Flexible regarding travel (travel is not expected to be extensive)
  • People management experience, such as managing performance, development and disciplinary procedures.
  • Good management skills, with the ability to motivate self and colleagues to achieve high standards of compliance.
  • Good operational planning and time management skills
  • IT literate in all Microsoft Office applications – experience in COINS or similar preferable
  • Ability to negotiate and settle disputes and accounts relating both to customers, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Sound knowledge of construction practices and standards
Desirable Criteria
  • Professional membership of an appropriate organisation (for example, RICS/CICES)
  • Relevant experience or qualification in contract law
