Purpose of Position: This is a senior academic position within the Centre for Education and Lifelong Learning. The main responsibility of the post-holder will be to provide academic leadership to support the delivery and development of our initial teacher education programme for teaqching in the Further Education and Training (FET) sector and to contribute to the overall delivery and development of CELL education programmes. The post-holder will be programme director for NCI’s Post-Graduate Diploma in Educational Practice for Teaching in Further Education. As a member of the Centre’s academic team, the post-holder will also advance the development of college-wide Learning, Teaching and Assessment strategies and policy and practice in these areas. As such, the role involves occasional responsibilities in relation to the professional development of staff and faculty on the scholarship and practice of learning, teaching and assessment in higher education and participation on academic committees. Centre of Education and Lifelong Learning The Centre for Education and Lifelong Learning delivers programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level on both a full-time and part-time basis, in the areas of initial teacher education for the Further Education and Training (FET) sector, early childhood education, adult and workforce education and professional development for educators. These include the Master of Arts in Educational Practice, Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Practice for Teaching in Further Education, Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Early Childhood Education and Care. A shortlisting panel is generally made up of two senior grade staff members from the relevant department for which the role is being recruited. Sharing of your data Where you have been successfully shortlisted for a post, each interview panel member will be furnished with a copy of the relevant information of those who will be attending interview in order that they can review applications in advance of the interview process. All such information will be returned to NCI and shredded following the competition process. Some of the interview panel will be external interviewers, who are not employees of NCI but are engaged for the purpose and are strictly subject to the rules and policies of the College.
