The HSE Mid-West Young Adult Disability Team, aims to improve the experiences of Young People transitioning from child disability services to adult focused disability services in the Mid-West region i.e., Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary. This specialist multidisciplinary team (MDT) for Young People with disabilities is provided by the HSE Mid-West Young Adult Disability Team (Principal Psychologist and Senior Grade Occupational Therapist and Psychology Assistant. The service is delivered in line with the approved Model of Service document developed in 2022. The overall purpose of the post is to put in place and provide clinical leadership and pivotal service for the Young Adults Disability Team. Under the model of service for the Young Adult Disability Team in the Mid-West Community Healthcare the “ Psychologist will also act as Clinical Lead of the Young Adult Disability Team, a role that will require 0.5 WTE allocation” . This level of responsibility for service lead and development are the duties of the Principal Psychologist in addition to clinical responsibilities. Currently young adult service users attending this service, the majority of whom have received a diagnosis of Intellectual disability and Autism, do not have access to other pathways for psychology services despite the established complexity of their needs. This post forms part of the overall resourcing of services within CHO Mid-West. The post covers Mid-West Community Healthcare.
