Locum Consultant Radiologist S.I. Breast radiology (Maternity Relief) This is an appointment to the BreastCheck on a Public Only Consultant’s Contract 2023 ( Locum ) by the Health Service Executive. The initial commitment for this post will be to BreastCheck - Southern Unit for 37 hours per week. "Agency Applications Will Not Be Considered at this time" The Opportunity The purpose of the post is to provide mammography reporting, assessment of screen-detected abnormalities, image-guided procedures and wire localisations at BreastCheck. The appointee will share responsibility with the Lead Radiologist for the overall co-ordination of the Unit’s quality assurance as related to all radiology aspects of the screening programme. Administrative responsibility may rotate amongst the other consultants who are employed in the delivery of the Programme. The successful candidate will be involved in multidisciplinary meetings (membership as per national guidelines) and should be prepared to be involved in promoting the programme nationally within the context of the Programme’s marketing strategy. Within BreastCheck, there is a well-established Multidisciplinary Team, comprising of Radiologists, Surgeons and Histopathologists, all of whom are involved in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Consultant Radiologists work together as part of this team. All mammograms are double reported. Where discrepancies occur, cases are discussed further and a group decision is taken either to recall the patient to an assessment clinic or to routinely recall them in 2 years. All radiologists partake in assessment clinics and participate in a peer review at the end of each clinic. All Radiologists attend the weekly Multidisciplinary meeting. The successful candidate will partake in all of the above activities. The Benefits We offer very competitive salaries, on the new 2023 consultant contract, on a scale of €217,325 – €261,051 per annum, depending on experience.
