(i)Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner (RANP) Care of the Older Adult (ID) Or (ii)Candidate Advanced Nurse Practitioner (cANP) Care of the Older Adult (ID) Horizons is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Care of the Older Adult) . The overall purpose of the post is to provide safe, timely, evidenced based nurse-led care to service-users at an advanced nursing level. This involves undertaking and documenting a complete episode of service-users care (assess, diagnose, plan, treat and discharge service-users) according to collaboratively agreed protocols and scope of practice in the clinical setting; demonstrating advanced clinical and theoretical knowledge, critical thinking, clinical leadership and decision-making skills. 1. Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc The following criteria apply for registration as an ANP/AMP with NMBI. You must: (i) Be a registered nurse/midwife on the active Register of Nurses and Midwives held by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) or be eligible to be so registered. AND (ii) Be registered in the Prescribers Division. The cANP (Pathway 2) applicant will need to complete the Nurse Prescribing of Medicinal Products Certificate. AND (iii) Have a minimum of 5 years’ post registration full time experience or an aggregate of 5 years’ full-time experience in the division of Intellectual Disability (Other Nursing disciplines with a minimum of 5 years’ post registration experience working in the area of intellectual disability may apply) AND (iv) Have at least three years of recent post-registration clinical experience, with one year of equivalent full-time experience in the specific area of practice. OR If the applicant does not possess the relevant specialist experience, they will be supported to attain one year’s specialist experience. AND (v) Hold a Master’s degree (or higher) in nursing/midwifery or a Master’s degree which is relevant, or applicable, to the advanced field of practice. The Master’s programme must be at Level 9 on the National Framework of Qualifications (Quality & Qualifications Ireland), or equivalent. Educational preparation must include at least three modular components pertaining to the relevant area of advanced practice, in addition to clinical practicum. In recognition of services that span several patient/client groups and/or division(s) of the Register, provide evidence of validated competencies relevant to the context of practice. Alternatively provide written evidence from the Higher Education Institute that they have achieved the number of ECTS credits equivalent to a Level 9 or higher standard, relevant to the specialist area of care (equivalent to 60 ECTS or above), and in line with the requirements for specialist practice as set out by the National Council for Nursing and Midwifery 4th ed (2008). OR If the applicant does not possess the relevant QQI NFQ Level 9 Qualification the applicant will be supported to undertake the required postgraduate education at QQI NFQ Level 9 qualification (equivalent to 60 ECTS or above) relevant to Care of the Older Adult (ID) and progress on Pathway Two. AND (vi) Be required to demonstrate that they have continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to Care of the Older Adult (ID) or will be supported to obtain the required CPD. AND (vii) Have the ability to practice safely and effectively fulfilling his/her professional responsibility within his/her scope of practice All of the above must be achieved within 2 years for the candidate to progress on Pathway Two to be eligible to register as a ANP. AND (b) Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability and clinical, leadership, managerial and administrative capacity for the proper discharge of the duties of the office. 2. Annual registration (i) Practitioners must maintain live annual registration on the register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) for the role.
