Project Worker OFD
Name of Project: Own Front Door Project (OFD) Introduction to the Model The OFD project seeks to develop effective and sustainable Emergency accommodation and services (through housing, as an alternative to hostels and hotels) for families and single people referred by the relevant Local authority. The project worker will then assess the individuals/family needs to establish appropriate services and supports including schools, parenting and childcare for families. The key objective is to ensure a coordinated response to access and exit appropriate housing and healthcare and social support to exit homelessness and sustain a home long-term. Some case work will be allocated under our Housing Plus programme to support long-term tenants in crisis and ensure long-term tenancy sustainment. Good Shepherd Centre Kilkenny works in conjunction with Mental Health Service Area 5, and in partnership with Kilkenny Council, Tipperary, Laois and Carlow County Councils.

The Over 18 Addiction Service provides OST (Opiate Substitution Treatment) services, Outreach to include Harm reduction, education including needle and syringe programme, overdose prevention training and provision of naloxone for people experiencing Opiate addiction, Information & supports. Out Addiction Homeless teams support those in addiction who are at risk of becoming homeless or are homeless to include those living in supported accommodation. We also provided Addiction counselling and education, /information and onward referral as required The Under 18 SUST (Substance use services for Teens) provides treatment/education and information for service users and families including Nurse Assessment, Addiction Counselling, treatment, support and onward referral as appropriate Our teams include GP’s, Nurses, Counsellors, Outreach team, Addiction Homeless team, Community Pharmacies and Admin staff.
