Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region is a major voluntary organisation, which provides age related residential, educational and day services for people with intellectual disabilities, autism and communication disorders throughout the Cork and Kerry area. Applications are invited for the following:- PERSON IN CHARGE Ref: 47/2025 Social Care Manager 1 / Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (CNM1) GRADE Permanent Full-Time (39 /37.5 hours per week) Location: Adults Residential Services, Cork City/suburbs The Purpose The Social care leader (SCL)/ Person in Charge (PIC) has overall responsibility for the effective governance, operational management, and regulatory compliance of a designated centre for people with intellectual disabilities. The PIC ensures the residents receive high quality, person centred care and support that promotes dignity, rights, independence and quality of life in accordance with the Organisations policies and procedures, the health act 2007 (as amended) and relevant national standards. The SCL/PIC will partake in and manage the roster effectively to ensure adequate staffing in line with the Statement of Purpose. Reporting to Area Manager or other authorised person as the Employing Authority may designate Professional Qualifications and Experience etc. Candidates must Possess a level 7 or higher in Social care PLUS a level 8 in a health/management related 3rd level qualification on the Quality & Qualifications (QQI) framework OR Possess a nursing qualification PLUS a level 8 in a health/management related 3rdlevel qualification on the Quality & Qualifications (QQI) framework Possess an equivalent qualification recognised by the Social Care Worker Registration Board, CORU And Must be eligible for registration on the Social Care Workers registration board with CORU from November 2023 , must obtain such registration by November 2025 and must maintain such registration for the duration of employment in this role. If a qualified nurse maintain live annual registration in the relevant division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) - An Bórd Altranais Have a minimum 5 years’ experience of working in residential services supporting adults with intellectual disability, autism and challenging behaviour is essential. Minimum 2 years management or supervisory experience. Possess or working towards a relevant management qualification. Post graduate training in Positive Behaviour Support is desirable Be flexible to meet the requirements of the service Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a high level of flexibility is essential Have experience of using alternative communication methods is essential Previous experience and understanding of how to support individuals with very specific and clinical support requirements and a clear understanding of the importance of working in line with written protocols and guidelines is desirable Have experience of using a person centered planning system is essential. Be computer literate including proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge and proficiency of using information systems Driving Licence Candidates must possess a full driving licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish roads as it is essential for the roles. 3. Age The Public Service Superannuation (Age of Retirement) Act, 2018* set 70 years as the compulsory retirement age for public servants. * Public Servants not affected by this legislation: Public servants recruited between 1 April 2004 and 31 December 2012 (new entrants) have no compulsory retirement age. Public servants recruited since 1 January 2013 are members of the Single Pension Scheme and have a compulsory retirement age of 70. 4. Health Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. 5. Character Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character. 6. Hours of Work The normal working hours will be 37.5/39 hours per week (depending on qualification) however, flexible hours, including weekends, evenings and sleepovers are involved. Starting and finishing times will be as notified to the appointee from time to time by the line manager. It is essential that the PIC ensures that there is constant and appropriate cover available within the residential service at all times. The appointee may be required to work additional hours arising from the duties of the appointment and compensation for these hours by way of time off in lieu, to be taken in line with the policy. The appointee may be required to provide out of hours on call cover and act as a person on responsibility within the service. Salary Scale: Social Care Manager 1: €56,351 - €65,827 (1/8/25 Consolidated Scales) Clinical Nurse Manager 1: €56,642 - €66,705 (1/8/25 Consolidated Scales) * Successful candidates are required to submit all documentary evidence outlining any relevant experience within 3 months of starting date. Thoracic Transplant Service Data Manager
Job Purpose This post is dedicated to Thoracic Transplant and VAD data management and will be a step towards aligning the service with key aims of HSE Digital Health Strategic Implementation plan particularly facilitation of collaboration, communication, and data sharing among healthcare professionals, leading to improved coordination of care and better decision-making all key requirements for safe Organ Donation and Transplant services. Note NSP 2025 has provided funding for a Transplant Centre Management Software application which is part of a wider ODTI strategy. This post will have a coordination role for roll out of this application at National Thoracic service. The Heart/Lung Transplant Data Manager is responsible for managing and analysing data related to the MMUH Heart and Lung Transplant, Heart Valve Tissue Bank and VAD service. This includes collecting, validating, and reporting on patient data to support Heart Lung Transplant Quality, Clinical Audit, research and quality improvement initiatives. They work with the multidisciplinary team to ensure data accuracy, integrity and to facilitate data-driven decision-making and achievement of KPIs. The person appointed will be very flexible in their approach to service provision and have the ability to work both on their own initiative and as a member of a team. He/she will be required to take an active part in ensuring that their day-to-day work reflects the ethos and vision of the Brothers of Charity and that the needs of the men and women in the service are being met by them as directed. As a team member, the best interests of each person using our service will be paramount in all discussions. Emphasis will be on forming a team approach involving people supported, families, advocates and staff on all relevant issues. In a high support setting the above is especially critical. One of the aspects of working in a complex case environment is the understanding that small interventions or actions can have disproportionate impacts and results. Clear, open and honest communication across the team is how issues are both identified and learnt from within a high support team. Professional Qualifications and Experience etc. Each candidate for the appointment must: Possess a relevant level 7 or higher qualification on the Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI) framework in a health care profession. Experience Relevant experience of working with adults / children with an intellectual disability / autism, challenging behaviour, working with a team in high support setting in a Residential setting is desirable Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrated experience and understanding of how to support individuals with very specific and clinical support requirements and a clear understanding of the importance of working in line with written protocols and guidelines Excellent problem-solving skills utilising lowest impact interventions wherever possible. Experience of Positive Behaviour Support interventions. Experience of working to agreed protocols, and feeding back to inform evolution of same is highly desirable. Experience of risk management strategies and risk management in general. Experience of utilising CPI/MAPA Techniques.
