As a Young Adult Support Worker, the post holder will be expected to support the delivery of services to School Leavers Service participants with physical disabilities as part of Irish Wheelchair Association’s services based in Roscommon. The objectives of our services are to provide pathways for people with disabilities to participate fully in the community, by means of establishing developmental, personal, and social inclusion programmes. This will include supporting individual young adults to identify and work towards their personal goals, and to facilitate a range of activities, such as training workshops, personal development work, day trips and social activities, and linking with services and facilities within individuals’ local communities. You will be also required to undertake and ensure the execution of such other tasks/duties as deemed necessary to the successful implementation of young adult services. Close liaison is required with the RT and School Leaver Service Support Officers and Rehabilitative Training team and Service Coordinators and team. Main Duties and Responsibilities Support Service Manager and Support Officers to implement a range of group workshops and activities based on the choices and needs of young adults Support individual young adults in line with the Association’s person centred approach and through Personal Goals work Support young adults involved in Rehabilitative Training activities Assist with safe transportation in line with requirements of the Transport Handbook guidelines Assist young adults in all aspects of personal care and daily living as identified by each individual Accompany and support young adults on outings, social trips and holidays as required Ensure that your work and interactions with others is such that it promotes and enhances the independence of students/young people Prepare and maintain hard copy and online records as required by the Service Manager/Support Officers Undertake training as directed by the Service Manager/Support Officers Actively ensure that standards and practices regarding health and safety are fully adhered to in all activities, and in the center itself. Hyde Adult Services provide a range of community-based servicesincluding day, residential, respite, community outreach, family support and a range of multidisciplinary support services. The Role: The Community Facilitator will be involved in the development and implementation of the educational, social, vocational, recreational and personal development goals for people supported in the service. The successful candidate will fulfil a key worker role for people supported and will work to develop active roles and increase participation in local communities.   Reporting/Responsible to: Team Leader/Team Manager Qualifications / Experience: ·        Candidates should have a QQI Level 6 qualification relevant to the Social Care sector – eg., Social Care, Training/Education, Community Development, Nursing, Creative Arts, Creative Digital Media ·        A full clean manual Driving Licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish roads is an essential requirement. It may also be necessary for the appointee to obtain a Class D1 Driving Licence (if not already in possession of one). The Jigsaw Service Administrator is an important youth-friendly role which will be a first point of contact for young people who call into the Jigsaw Hub and will be able to give information or direct them to support staff in the Hub. The Service Administrator will also have responsibility for the day to day administration support for Jigsaw to ensure efficient project delivery. The Service Administrator will work closely with the Service Manager to provide the necessary administration support to ensure the successful day to day running of Jigsaw and will work as a member of the Jigsaw team. Please note: This is a full-time, 12-month Specific Purpose position, based in our Jigsaw Galway service. WHO WE ARE: We are Jigsaw, the National Centre for Youth Mental Health. Formerly known as Headstrong, we were set up in 2006 and to this day, we remain committed to leading a nationwide transformation in the area of youth mental health. By joining the Jigsaw Team, you will help us to create an Ireland where every young person’s mental health is valued and supported.  In Jigsaw, we intervene early to support young people’s mental health. We are the only mental health service in the country with an exclusive focus on 12-25 year olds. We have 14 Jigsaw services in communities across Ireland providing mental health support to young people, and we are continuing to grow year on year. Our Jigsaw services provide young people aged 12-25 with a place they can visit for free and receive confidential support from trained mental health professionals.  We educate and equip communities to help young people. Our research is the foundation on which we build our workshops for adults and young people alike. We believe that future resilience is based on early intervention and mentoring.  We listen to young people. At Jigsaw, our Youth Advisory Panel’s opinions and contributions are vital to the running of our organisation. They guide our thinking and they influence our decision-making.  We are changing the way Ireland thinks about and responds to young people’s mental health. It is essential for our young people’s wellbeing that we respond at the right time, in the right way.
