The Role

The post holder will serve as a key enabler of Marymount University Hospital & Hospice's Education and Research portfolio, providing expert academic coordination support across a range of programmes delivered in partnership with University College Cork and other academic bodies. Reporting to the Academic Director, the post holder will work closely with the Education and Research Manager and programme directors to ensure the seamless administration of the full academic lifecycle from student induction and programme promotion through to examination management, external examiner liaison, accreditation support, and quality assurance processes.

The post holder will act as the primary point of contact for students, academic staff, and central university offices, ensuring that programme information, policies, and processes are communicated accurately and efficiently. A central element of the role will be supporting the coordination of internal and external examination boards, curriculum change processes, and the development of academic standard operating procedures that reflect best practice across Marymount's growing Education and Research function.

Beyond academic administration, the post holder will contribute to organisational projects and learning innovation initiatives, assist in the preparation of funding proposals, and provide senior administrative leadership to the wider education team. The role demands a high degree of flexibility, as the post holder may be required to rotate across academic programmes and take on responsibilities that evolve in line with the strategic development of the Education and Research portfolio.

Eligibility Criteria Qualifications and/ or Experience

A candidate must, on the latest date for receiving completed applications, meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a third-level qualification at a minimum of Level 7 on the National Framework of Qualifications, or equivalent, in addition to an undergraduate qualification in a discipline relevant to the role.
  • Have a minimum of four years' experience in a comparable role or environment.
  • Have held direct responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple educational programmes.
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to manage and influence complex stakeholder networks across demanding business and academic environments.
  • Demonstrate proven vendor management experience gained through working with a variety of educational stakeholders.
  • Have experience of financial budget management, including both capital and operating expenditure.
  • Have solid experience implementing strategies within an educational and research-rich environment.

  • Knowledge of the healthcare system.
  • Professional qualifications aligned to the role.

Contract Type

This post is a Specified Purpose contract. The tenure of this post is contingent upon the continuation of the specific purpose for which it has been created.
