Accountant

Main purpose of the role:
The main task for the Company Accountant will be to co-ordinate the entire accounting function of the various businesses outlined above.


The ideal candidate will have/be:
• Hold a professional accountancy qualification from one of the recognised bodies
• Fully computer literate with experience in using recognised computerised accounting packages on a day to day basis
• Ideally will have post qualification industry experience in the convenience retail and forecourt sector.

Main duties:
• Ensuring adequate procedures and systems are in place to maintain proper books and records and adequate internal accounting controls;
• Preparing weekly flash reports
• Preparing detailed, regular and timely management accounts
• Co-ordinating the establishment of budgets within the organisation and monitoring same v actual
• Managing cash flow requirements by way of preparing regular and rolling cash flow projections
• Managing and directing site staff to support the accounting function
• Ensuring the timely preparation and submission of all necessary tax returns including VAT returns, PAYE/PRSI returns and Corporation Tax returns and any other statutory returns required by CSO or other authorities
• Ensuring all company secretarial matters are up to date
• Managing the payroll function for the organisation
• Managing all capital expenditure
• Costing of ad hoc projects
• Liaising with insurance companies regarding the overall insurance arrangements of the company
• Liaising with external auditors in relation to statutory accounts and other related matters
• Liaising with Banks regarding all aspects of funding
• Other related finance duties as required
• Ensuring the timely preparation and submission of all necessary tax returns including VAT returns, PAYE/PRSI returns and Corporation Tax returns and any other statutory returns required by CSO or other authorities
• Ensuring all company secretarial matters are up to date.
• Managing the payroll function for the organisation
• Managing all capital expenditure
• Costing of ad hoc project
