Role Overview

The Accounts Technician will support the finance function by managing day-to-day accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and contributing to TRM’s operational efficiency. This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records including ledgers, journals, and bank reconciliations
  • Process purchase invoices, receipts, and payments
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and year-end financial statements
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and other statutory filings
  • Support payroll processing and expense claims
  • Liaise with suppliers, internal departments, and external auditors
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies
  • Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives

Skills & Qualifications

Essential:

  • AAT qualification or equivalent (or working towards)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a finance or accounts role
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Intact Xline, or similar)
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills
  • Excellent organisational and communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable:

  • Experience in manufacturing or inventory-based environments
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., EPICOR)
  • Understanding of lean finance principles
  • Multilingual skills (advantageous in TRM’s multicultural setting)
