Applegreen first established fast charging as part of its services to customers in 2012 and is one of the largest Travel Plaza operators in Europe and the US, trading as Welcome Break on Motorway and Trunk Road Service Areas and Applegreen on Service Stations in the UK. Applegreen joined Blackstone Infrastructure Partners in 2020, the world’s largest alternative asset manager, with $1 trillion in assets under management.

Today, Applegreen Electric works with a range of partners to design, develop, host, and operate universal access EV charging bays, providing 150,000+ fast charging sessions to EV drivers a month, supporting the rapid transition to sustainable transportation and a low-carbon future.

About the Role:

Applegreen Electric is searching for an acquisition specialist to identify and develop Electric Vehicle (EV) sites in the UK & Ireland with a loose geographical focus on the South of England. The responsibilities of the Acquisitions Manager will include site identification, negotiation with landlords on both a freehold and leasehold basis, financial model management and presentation of deals for board approval. The Acquisitions Manager will be responsible for building and executing a substantial pipeline of EV Plaza sites while working closely with the Head of Network Developments, external consultants, and internal construction team.

The Acquisition Manager will have an established network of contacts and ideally experienced in the Drive-Thru and roadside markets although wider acquisition experience would also be considered. A strong understanding of EV infrastructure and associated project management is highly desirable. Relevant legal and town planning knowledge in order to manage site progression through to handover with construction team is also a necessity.

As Applegreen Electric expands, the responsibilities will evolve and change over time. The initial responsibilities will primarily focus on the following areas:

  • A demonstratable track record in site acquisitions.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment focussed on deliverability.
  • Working knowledge of, and participation in, planning applications and highways considerations.
  • Tenacious work ethic in identifying suitable opportunities and managing the associated legal process.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, model management and report writing skills.

  • Able to work well in a startup culture and remotely.
  • Willingness to travel extensively.

Education, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Business Administration, or related field – Required.
  • Master's degree inReal Estate, Finance, Business Administration, or related field – Preferred.
  • Proven experience in property acquisition, real estate investment or a related field – Preferably for another Roadside Retailer or Service Area provider.
  • Strong understanding of real estate finance, valuation techniques and investment analysis.
  • Excellent negotiation, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in financial modelling and analysis using Excel or other similar tools.
  • Familiar with property law and regulations as well as market dynamics.
