ACTIVITIES CO-ORDINATOR

We are looking for an Energetic Enthusiastic Activity Coordinator to create a stimulating and varied programme of leisure activities and social events, in our Nursing Home, for residents to enjoy. To work with each new resident to understand their likes/dislikes, abilities and needs to put together an individual social care plan and to evaluate regularly

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with planning and coordinating activities and events, discussion groups & clubs, sensory stimulation, cultural activities, religious services, special entertainment, off property trips, special events, in-house movies, instructions courses; such as, arts & crafts, seminars, workshops, presentations; Active Aging Week, health & fitness activities, customized activities for Alzheimer/Dementia and Parkinson affected residents, marketing events, holiday parties.
  • To consult with each resident in order to identify their social and recreational requirements according to their likes/dislikes, abilities and personal preferences.
  • To assist residents who have cognitive impairment/dementia with activity sessions, reminiscence support, mobility, encouragement and general support within a residential home
  • To communicate effectively with the staff nurse regarding the wellbeing of residents to take part in social activity.
  • To ensure all staff are aware of planned activities.
  • To effectively manage the allocated social activity budget.
  • To establish links with and encourage involvement of the local community.

  • Good English, numeracy and writing skills.
  • Your ability to understand and follow procedures.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

REQUIREMENTS OF ACTIVITY COORDINATOR:

  • One-year experience in geriatrics, social or recreational programs in a licensed health care setting within the last three years is preferred.
  • Must have completed an Activity Co-ordinator course
  • Must have experience and willingness to work with people with memory issues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and good written and computer skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively and perform simple arithmetic

30 hours per week, with possibility of more.

Hourly rate of €13.50 - 14.50
