Purpose-led work you’ll be part of
We are seeking to continue to grow the Life Actuarial Services practice here at PwC. As a manager, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Managing and delivering a wide range of both core actuarial assignments (e.g. Solvency II, IFRS 17, peer review, actuarial function support, actuarial transformation) and multi-disciplinary assignments across wider fields (e.g. risk and regulation, tech-enabled services).
Acting as your clients’ main point of day-to-day contact on actuarial engagements.
Managing junior members of the team, while being supported by senior management, to deliver high quality and timely responses to PwC engagements.
Contributing to the development of new consulting propositions. This will include opportunities to partner with other professionals in the PwC network in such areas as data & analytics and risk management.
Contributing to thought leadership pieces and market surveys as well as other PwC branded reports.
We look to develop accomplished all-round consultants, not just technically strong actuaries. This means exposure to a wide range of clients and project situations, including the opportunity to work with people from our network firms. You will be able to build a strong professional profile both internally in PwC and externally in the insurance sector. You will be supported throughout your development with ample training and guidance from senior staff within the practice.
Experiences and skills
We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and dedicated professional to join our team. We’re looking for the following experience and skills:
Qualified actuary with 5+ years of relevant experience in the life insurance or reinsurance market from either a consultancy or industry background. Solvency II and/or financial reporting experience are key. Experience of the Irish life (re)insurance market is an advantage.
An ability to build strong client relationships (internal or external) and an ability to communicate our analysis and insights to our clients in plain English.
An ability to develop and mentor junior staff, including technical training and performance management.
A desire to build out our propositions so that we meet a client need and develop a viable, commercial, professional service, offering in that space.
Strong IT (e.g. MS Excel and Word) and actuarial modelling skills - we base our advice on our analytical abilities.
Strong technical, problem identification, analytical and solutioning skills.
Strong project management skills with the ability for quality delivery within timescales.
Self-motivated, take responsibility for personal development in technical and broader consulting skills.
