Vacancy 1: Full Time (35 hours per week), Permanent, Administration Grade 2

Vacancy 2: Part Time (17.5 hours per week), Permanent, Administration Grade 2

A panel may be formed from which future similar vacancies may be filled; such a panel will remain active for a maximum period of 12 months.

Salary for Vacancy 1:  €27,131 per annum pro rata*

Salary for Vacancy 2: €13,565.50 per annum pro rata*

Salary Note: Government policy continues to be that starting pay on recruitment from open competition for all posts within the public service should be at the minimum of the relevant salary scale and are not subject to negotiation. Exceptions for current civil/public servants may apply.

Basic Function

The primary function of these roles is to carry out front of house duties for the Moorepark Food Research Centre as well as providing administrative support where required.

Background

Teagasc Moorepark is located on a 110 hectare site in North Cork with a dedicated Food Research Centre, an extensive Animal and Grassland Research Facility and a Pig Production Development Facility.

The primary focus of the Food Research Centre at Moorepark is dairy science and food for health, including dairy-based ingredients, cheese research, flavour chemistry, fermented foods, bioactive compounds, milk quality and safety, food microbiology and microbiome research.

Job Objectives

Vacancy 1: Full Time (35 hours per week), Permanent, Administration Grade 2

This role will require the succesful candidate to provide the primary reception cover for the Moorepark Food Research Centre (MFRC).

In addition, the succesful candidate will;

  • Raise electronic requisitions (RSS) on behalf of departmental staff within the MFRC.

  • Maintain a stock of stationery/other consumables for the departments.

  • Facilitate the process of recruiting and administrating the induction of students and staff within the MFRC.

  • Draft and prepare documents using MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access.

  • Provide organisational support in the running of departmental conferences and meetings.

  • Organise travel and accommodation arrangements for departmental staff.

  • Identify means of streamlining existing office procedures.

  • Update MFRC databases.

  • Communicate issues with Teagasc staff and act as point of contact for public events as required.

  • Act as the main point of contact for information requests or queries related to the MFRC.

  • Admin support for Academic Programmes as required.

  • Work in close liaison with the Campus Operations Manager and the administration team at Moorepark to ensure a positive and co-operative working environment.

Vacancy 2: Part Time (17.5 hours per week), Permanent, Administration Grade 2

This role will require the succesful candidate to be the primary POC for all Expense and Subsistence Claim matters within Moorepark Campus. 

In addition, the succesful candidate will;

  • Administrate Expenses and Subsistence Claims for Moorepark Campus. .

  • Provide reception support to Moorepark Food Research Centre (MFRC) as required.

  • Provide administrative support to staff within the Moorepark Food Research Centre.

Common Objectives 

  • Actively participate in the annual business planning, risk management and Performance Management and Development System (PMDS) processes.

  • Assist Teagasc in meeting the commitments of the Quality Customer Service Charter and Action Plan through adherence to best practice protocols.

  • Fully co-operate with the provisions made for ensuring the health, safety and welfare of oneself, fellow staff and non-Teagasc staff and co-operate with management in enabling Teagasc to comply with legal obligations. This includes full compliance with the responsibilities outlined in the Safety Statement.

  • Such other duties as may be assigned from time to time including the provision of support to other administrative areas on Moorepark campus as required

Qualifications

  • QQI Level 5 qualification or passed an examination at the appropriate level within the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) which can be assessed as being comparable to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent or higher

  • At least 1 year of administration experience.

  • Business/Admin Level 6 Qualification.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Good organisational & time management skills.

  • Strong administrative & numeracy skills.

  • Knowledge of MS Access, DMS and Integra systems.

  • A commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
