Purpose of the Role
The post holder will play a key strategic role, working closely with consultants, multidisciplinary teams (MDTs), and the Head of Operations to shape, lead, and deliver administrative and operational systems that directly support clinical priorities, patient safety, and organisational performance

They will be responsible for the efficient and effective management of inpatient referrals and bed capacity, supporting optimal patient flow, while ensuring the smooth operation of outpatient services. The post holder will also lead in administrative governance, regulatory compliance, and quality standards across all areas of responsibility, ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulations. In line with the hospital’s digital transformation agenda, the role will also contribute to the design and implementation of improved digital workflows, data-driven decision-making, and the integration of technology to enhance administrative efficiency and service user experience.

Qualifications – Essential

  • Third-level qualification (Level 8 or higher on the National Framework of Qualifications) in Healthcare Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ relevant management experience in a healthcare setting, with demonstrated responsibility for administrative services, patient services, or operational management.
  • Proven experience in inpatient referral management, bed management, patient flow coordination, or outpatient service oversight.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing administrative teams.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare governance, regulatory compliance, and quality standards applicable within the Irish healthcare system.
  • Experience in performance management, KPI development, monitoring, and reporting to senior management.
  • Demonstrated experience in service planning, transformation, and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Strong financial and resource management awareness, including workforce planning and budgetary oversight.
  • High level of IT proficiency, including hospital information systems, patient administration systems (PAS), and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentation of data to senior stakeholders.

Qualifications – Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification (Level 9 or higher) in Healthcare Management, Business, Leadership, or Quality & Patient Safety.
  • Formal management or leadership qualification.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or other quality improvement certification.
  • Experience working within private hospital settings.
  • Experience implementing or supporting digital transformation initiatives in healthcare environments.
  • Knowledge of MHC standards.
  • Experience in policy development and standard operating procedure (SOP) design and implementation.
  • Project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) or demonstrable project leadership experience.
