ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT TO SECTOR MANAGER (ADMIN GRADE IV)

Permanent Part-Time (56 hours per fortnight)
Location: Cork Services
A panel may be formed from this competition from which future full-time/part-time vacancies may be filled throughout our Services in Cork.
The Role:
Th person will be the admin support to the Sector Manager in a dynamic environment. The post holder will be required to take an active part in ensuring that the day-to-day operations of the Sector and reflect the ethos and vision of the Corlann Services (formerly Brothers of Charity) and that all co-workers are meeting the needs of the people who use services therein.
The person appointed should have the ability to participate proactively as a member of the sectoral team and contribute positively to the ongoing development of the Services. The person appointed will be flexible, innovative and provide an efficient secretarial/administrative service.
The role is characterised by providing a confidential and supportive environment in which the Manager may efficiently and effectively conduct the business of the Sector.
Note¹
Candidates must achieve a pass in Ordinary or Higher level papers. A pass in a foundation level
paper is not acceptable.
Candidates must have achieved these grades on the Leaving Certificate Established programme
or the Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme
The Leaving Certificate Applied Programme does not fulfil the eligibility criteria AND
2. Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of
suitability and administrative ability), for the proper discharge of the office.
3. Have good communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to deal with the public and work
as part of a team.
4. Have 3 years post qualification experience of working in an administrative / office environment
and previous experience of working within the Medical/Health Service would be desirable.
5. Have excellent organisational and co-ordination skills.
6. Have ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
7. Have commitment to teamwork.
8. Have ability to be flexible and work on your own initiative.
9. Have confidence, interested and enthusiastic and possess a friendly and positive approach to
service users and staff.
10. Have full driving licence which qualifies you to drive on Irish roads is essential
2.Age
The Public Service Superannuation (Age of Retirement) Act, 2018* set 70 years as the compulsory retirement age for public servants.
* Public Servants not affected by this legislation:
Public servants recruited between 1 April 2004 and 31 December 2012 (new entrants) have no compulsory retirement age.
Public servants recruited since 1 January 2013 are members of the Single Pension Scheme and have a compulsory retirement age of 70.
3.Health
Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
4.Character:
Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
Salary Scale: €36,109 - €55,463 including 1 LSI (1/2/26). Pro-rata if working part-time hours
* Successful candidates are required to submit all documentary evidence outlining any relevant experience within 3 months of starting date. Failure to do so will mean that any incremental credit due now will only be paid from date of submission of documents.
