McMahons Truss is part of one of Ireland's leading builders providers, supplying building materials, roofing, timber, plumbing, hardware, insulation, and construction products to trade professionals, contractors, developers, and DIY customers. We have been providing quality building supplies and DIY materials to the trade and public for over 200 years. The group consists of a network of 14 stores, as well as a Truss Manufacturing plant and 3 Hardwood & Sheet Material branches.

Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Administrator / Junior CAD Associate to join our busy truss and posi-joist design and manufacturing facility in Fermoy.

This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone who enjoys administration but also has an interest in developing a career in CAD design within the timber engineering sector. The role will initially focus on administrative support, with structured opportunities to gain hands-on CAD experience over time.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Duties

  • Prepare and process invoices accurately and on time
  • Manage general office correspondence (emails, phone calls, document handling)
  • Maintain job files, production records, and customer documentation
  • Assist with order processing and tracking of projects
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal departments
  • Support the design and production teams with day-to-day admin tasks
  • Ensure records are organised and compliant with company procedures

CAD / Technical Support Duties (Training Provided)

  • Assist the design team with basic CAD drawing tasks
  • Learn to produce truss and posi-joist layouts using industry software
  • Interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Update drawings based on feedback from senior designers
  • Support the team with document control and drawing revisions
  • Develop an understanding of structural components and design processes

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Experience with BisTrack bespoke software system(training will be provided)
  • Interest in engineering, construction, or CAD design
  • Previous admin experience in a manufacturing or construction environment
  • Basic knowledge of CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD)
  • Understanding of technical drawings
