As part of Dunnes Stores' ongoing digital transformation journey, we are now hiring an AI Programme Manager who will coordinate the governance, delivery and oversight of AI initiatives across the organisation. 

Reporting to the Head of PMO, this role will provide programme leadership across a growing portfolio of AI use cases, ensuring initiatives progress efficiently from idea through trial, approval and implementation. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, risk and control functions and external partners to ensure AI initiatives are appropriately governed, prioritised and delivered. 

Key Responsibilities 

Governance & Steering Support 

  • Coordinate AI Governance Forum meetings (agenda, materials, attendance)
  • Maintain decisions, approvals, and action logs
  • Ensure governance decisions are fully documented and auditable
  • Apply governance processes as defined by the Forum, ensuring they are followed proportionately and without unnecessary delay 

Use Case Intake & Approvals 

  • Maintain the AI Use Case Register
  • Ensure all AI initiatives are formally registered before commencement
  • Coordinate approvals from POC through to pilot and production
  • Ensure submissions meet governance, risk, and documentation standards
  • Develop and maintain standard templates (intake, DPIA triage, trial evaluation, business case) for Forum approval
  • Ensure current approved versions are in use across all submissions 

Risk & Control Coordination 

  • Coordinate reviews across legal, risk, privacy, security, and architecture
  • Ensure required assessments (e.g. risk, privacy) are completed prior to approvals
  • Support streamlined governance processes and removal of bottlenecks
  • Coordinate AI incident response, reporting and escalation in line with Forum-agreed procedures

Delivery & Workstream Oversight 

  • Support speedy progression of AI initiatives from idea through trials and rollout
  • Track workstreams, dependencies, and actions across teams
  • Coordinate with delivery teams and external partners to unblock progress
  • Maintain the end-to-end AI pipeline and roadmap for Forum review and prioritisation
  • Support transition from trial → business case → rollout

 Business Engagement 

  • Work with business and AI champions to shape use cases
  • Provide guidance on governance processes and approvals
  • Support awareness and adoption of AI policy and user guidelines

Monitoring & Ongoing Oversight 

  • Track approved initiatives and governance conditions
  • Coordinate incident escalation and governance reporting
  • Ensure oversight continues beyond initial approval

Success Outcomes 

  • All AI initiatives are supported, governed, approved, and tracked consistently
  • Complete visibility of AI activity via a maintained register and roadmap
  • Identify ways to reduced friction from idea to implementation
  • Strong documentation and audit readiness
  • Effective cross-functional coordination

Candidate Profile

  • Experienced Technical Program Manager / PMO with strong governance capability
  • Strong stakeholder management across business and control functions
  • Comfortable operating in structured approval and risk environments
  • Excellent organisation, documentation, and communication skills
  • Experience in AI, data, or digital transformation is advantageous
