The AI RiskManager is responsible for the independent oversight and validation of both traditional models and AI systems, including machine learning, general purpose AI, and third-party AI solutions. The role defines the scope, approach, and depth of validation activities in line with internal policies, regulatory requirements and best practices, ensuring that models and AI systems are appropriately assessed for fitness for purpose.

The AI Risk Manager provides direction and oversight to validation activities performed by team members, while remaining hands-on for complex or high-risk use cases where additional judgement is required. The role is responsible for validation conclusions and reporting, and engages with stakeholders and vendors to challenge assumptions, assess risks, and ensure appropriate governance and monitoring in place.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and monitor the work of analysts in your team to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Provide the first level of review and sign-off for all validation work assigned.
  • Present and provide your opinion as to the fitness for purpose of models to Model Owners and governance committees which is a condition for approval for use.
  • Work with your Senior Managers/Head of Financial and Model Risk to plan and develop the validation schedule.
  • Ensure that all validations are completed within the agreed timeframe and according to documented guidelines and internal standards.
  • Drive enhancements in validation frameworks and methodologies, particularly for AI solutions.

Requirements:

Essential

  • A high level of quantitative ability up to at least undergraduate degree level in a highly numerically oriented subject such as physics, mathematics, statistics, econometrics, quantitative finance, actuarial science, engineering or general science.
  • Strong quantitative background with experience in model development, validation, model risk management, or other independent challenge function.
  • Experience in assessing or working with data-driven systems beyond traditional statistical models, such as complex machine learning methodologies.

Desired

  • Experience in leading a team of quantitative analysts – experience in leading teams of analysts responsible for the development or validation of models being advantageous.
  • Familiarity with General Purpose AI (GPAI) and emerging AI technologies.
  • Experience in regulatory credit modelling including Internal Rating Based approaches.

This is a Permanent position, based in Dublin (Hybrid option available within the Republic of Ireland only)
