Analytical Chemist (QC) – Grade I / Grade II / Grade III

Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday – Friday.

At Almac, we are continuously expanding our Quality Control teams and are currently recruiting Analytical Chemists at multiple levels. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly skilled QC environment supporting pharmaceutical release testing for global clients, with clear development pathways from entry level through to senior analytical roles.

The Role

As an Analytical Chemist within our QC team, you will perform a wide range of pharmaceutical release testing activities in line with cGMP requirements, supporting both raw materials and finished products. Depending on your experience and grade, your role will range from routine testing through to project ownership, technical input and mentoring of junior colleagues.

Techniques include (but are not limited to):

  • HPLC
  • GC
  • AAS/ trace metals
  • KF(volumetric & coulometric)
  • UV spectroscopy
  • Potentiometry
  • FTIR, polarimetry and wet chemistry methods

Key Responsibilities

Across all grades, you will:

  • Perform analytical testing to cGMP standards in a regulated QC environment
  • Accurately record data ensuring it is ALCOA+ compliant
  • Follow SOPs, AOIs and regulatory requirements consistently
  • Ensure Right First Time delivery of analytical work
  • Maintain high laboratory housekeeping and safety standards
  • Support investigation of OOS, OOT, OOP and OOE results where applicable
  • Communicate effectively within the team and wider departments

At Grade II & III level, you will also:

  • Take greater ownership of analytical projects and timelines
  • Prepare and review reports and technical documentation
  • Contribute to process improvements and technical discussions
  • Train and mentor less experienced scientists
  • Support audits, inspections and client interactions (Grade III)

What We’re Looking For

Essential (all levels):

  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Chemistry or a related analytical discipline
  • Practical laboratory experience with analytical techniques
  • Strong attention to detail and data integrity mindset
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to plan and organise work effectively

Additional experience considered beneficial (depending on grade):

  • Industrial experience in a GMP or GLP environment
  • Experience delivering analytical work to agreed timelines
  • Experience mentoring or training others
  • Confidence contributing to technical problem solving and investigations
  • Compendial methodology experience preferable.
