Job Summary
To be responsible for the financial administration, procurement, and delivery coordination of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council’s role within the PEAT+ Project, a PEACEPLUS-funded cross-border initiative focused on peatland restoration, climate action, and biodiversity enhancement. The postholder will ensure the effective management of Council’s PEAT+ budget, including procurement processes, grant claims, financial monitoring, and audit compliance. They will coordinate and oversee the delivery of project outputs across Slieve Gullion SAC and Eastern Mournes SAC, ensuring that all activities are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with PEACEPLUS requirements, partnership agreements, and Council governance procedures. The role will involve working closely with internal departments, project partners, and external contractors to ensure that all project deliverables, monitoring, and reporting requirements are met to the highest standard. The project is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
Duration of Appointment
This is a temporary funded post until 30 June 2029, which may be extended or curtailed subject to funding.
Working Pattern
36hrs Monday – Friday.
All posts are eligible to participate in the Flexi Scheme.
Reserve List
Whilst the Council are recruiting for a temporary AONB and Geopark Project Officer: Peatplus in Downpatrick or Crossmaglen Community Centre, please note that a reserve list will be compiled for future permanent, temporary, full time and part time AONB and Geopark Project Officer: Peatplus positions at Council Offices in Downpatrick and Crossmaglen Community Centre for a period of 12 months.
The postholder may be required to transfer to other locations in accordance with any requirements stated in the Job Description, any reviews of service delivery or other requirements as may arise from time to time. Any amendments made to work location will be implemented following appropriate consultation and provision of reasonable notice.
Salary
Scale SO1, NJC spinal point 25 - 27, £36,363- £38,220 per annum based on a 36 hour week (pro rata to hours worked). Plus 19% employer pension contribution.
It is Council policy to appoint at minimum salary scale point.
