Role Profile

Tirlán is offering a unique opportunity for someone to join our Quality team as a Lab Technician Apprentice. This programme offers a two year level 6 or a three year level 7 programme in partnership with Ibec. More details are available on Laboratory Apprenticeship - IBEC

Located in Tirlán’s central laboratory, Dungarvan, Waterford, this role reports to the Lab Manager.

Responsibilities

Raw Milk analysis including a range of:

  • Microbiological methods including Testing of private well water, SPC, culture methods;
  • Rapid Microbiology Tests: Bactoscan, Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assays (ELISA), PCR, LCMS/MS;
  • Antibiotic/ Inhibitor analysis;
  • Chemistry methods including FTIR, Gerber, Kjeldahl;
  • Excellent completion of all documentation and maintenance of records;
  • Successful implementation and participation in internal and external proficiency tests;
  • Equipment cleaning, maintenance and calibration;
  • Day to day maintenance of laboratory hygiene standards;
  • Timely escalation of non-conformances or potential non-conformances including participation in laboratory investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.

The laboratory is fully accredited to CLAS. The Lab Apprentice will be required to participate in in-house training, the quality assurance system, accreditation process and internal audits.

  • Must be able to reliably get to and from our site in Dungarvan
  • Must have a positive, proactive attitude and a strong willingness to learn 
  • The Lab Apprentice will be expected to be flexible in this position
