Apprenticeships
Asset Management forms part of the wider Infrastructure function at Dublin Airport. The purpose of this department and team is to operate & maintain the assets of Dublin Airport and to support a modernised approach to the technical asset management of facilities and systems in line with the vision of “keeping people moving through engineering excellence.”
Applications are now open from enthusiastic and hardworking individuals, who are interested in pursuing a trade apprenticeship. The daa is committed to apprenticeship training and is offering SIX training placements to people interested in a career as a Tradesperson: 2 fitters, 2 electricians, 1 carpenter and 1 agricultural mechanic.
The apprenticeship will be a mixture of workplace and classroom training. It is a structured training programme designated by Solas to ensure all apprentices are recognised as a craftsperson upon the completion of the programme and will receive a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate.
The successful candidates will be trained in all aspects of the trade and applicants must be eligible to undertake the SOLAS Standard Based Apprenticeship Programme. See www.solas.ie. Solas and the Department of Education & Skills have responsibility for providing off-the-job training, while the apprentices’ on-the-job training will take place on site at Dublin Airport. The duration of an apprenticeship is a minimum of 4 years commencing September 2023. The apprentice will receive a QQI Award Level 6 Advanced Craft Certificate on completion of their apprenticeship. This qualification is recognised both nationally and internationally.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must be at least eighteen years of age on 1st September 2023
At the time of application, applicants must have completed the Leaving Certificate with the following minimum grades: Minimum Grade O6 in five subjects, including Maths and English and one of the following subjects: Science, Technical Graphics, Materials Technology (Metal/ Wood) OR Technology
Must possess a genuine interest in mechanical or electrical tasks with a technical aptitude
Excellent co-ordination and hand skills
Strong problem-solving ability combined with a focus on detail
Excellent spoken and written English
An eagerness to listen, learn and ask questions
Strong team player with the ability to work on own initiative as required
Proactive thinking is paramount
Ensure the culture of continuous improvement is maintained and developed throughout the campus
