Area Visual Merchandiser
Role Overview
The Area Visual Merchandiser - South East of Ireland is responsible for leading and managing a team of Visual Merchandisers across multiple sites while driving visual excellence, commercial performance, and brand consistency. This role combines people management, and hands‑on visual execution, ensuring showroom layouts, stock flow, and presentation standards consistently support sales growth and an exceptional customer journey.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, coach, and manage a team of Store Visual Merchandisers across multiple locations.
- Set clear expectations, priorities, and standards for the VM team, ensuring consistent execution.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing development of Visual Merchandisers.
- Provide regular feedback, guidance, and mentoring to build capability and confidence within the team.
- Conduct performance reviews and contribute to succession planning within the VM function.
Visual Strategy & Brand Consistency
- Own and protect brand consistency across all stores, ensuring a unified visual identity.
- Oversee implementation of VM guidelines, planograms, and room set concepts, supporting the VM to adapt execution to suit different store layouts.
- Ensure furniture, accessories, signage, styling, and pricing meet brand standards at all times.
- Share best practice across the area to continuously raise visual standards.
Store Visits & VM Audits
- Carry out weekly/bi weekly store visits to assess visual standards, layout effectiveness, and commercial presentation.
- Produce clear store visit reports, emailing detailed action notes to National Visual Merchandising manager, Store Managers and Store VMs.
- Follow up to ensure agreed actions and improvements are implemented within required timelines.
- Identify and escalate maintenance issues, damaged display furniture, or health and safety risks.
Floor Planning & New Arrivals
- Lead floor planning for new furniture and accessory arrivals, ensuring optimal space usage and customer flow data is utilised.
- Plan and coordinate major showroom moves, seasonal changes, and promotional launches across the region, including the planning and organisation of team installations
- Work with warehouse & delivery team to ensure appropriate support for large‑scale moves.
Commercial Performance & Sales Analysis
- Complete weekly sales analysis, reviewing performance by store, category, and range.
- Translate sales data into visual actions to drive sell‑through and margin.
- Identify slow‑moving lines and non‑movers, working closely with Store Team and VM to agree action plans.
- Review the effectiveness of visual decisions and adjust layouts accordingly.
- Conduct regular competitive shops with Vm in each area of responsibility, complete a swot analysis on findings
Stock Flow & Transfers
- Oversee and create stock transfers across the area to optimize availability and performance.
- Manage weekly accessory transfers, ensuring alignment with store capacity and VM priorities.
- Ensure transferred stock is displayed effectively and integrated into existing showroom layouts.
Pricing & VM Compliance
- Ensure pricing accuracy and compliance across all stores, including within room sets and promotional areas.
- Oversee implementation of price changes in line with company timelines.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Work in close partnership with Store Team, Purchasing and Stock Control, keeping the relevant stakeholders informed at all necessary points
- Act as a key VM point of contact within the region, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience leading a team of Visual Merchandisers or a retail team in a role
- Background in interior design and furniture retail advantageous
- Excellent commercial and analytical skills, with the ability to turn sales data into visual strategy.
- Excellent floor planning and space management capability.
- Confident people leader with strong coaching and communication skills.
- Highly organised, adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple stores and priorities.
- Ability to work as part of a larger team in fast paced store implementations and seasonal set ups.
