A panel may be formed as a result of this process from which subsequent appointments for the Bruach na Mara Services may be made over the next 6 months.
The Bruach na Mara services in South Connemara are a community based, person centred service focussing on the needs and abilities of adults with intellectual disabilities. The vision of the service is to support people with intellectual disabilities to achieve a full and valued life in their community. We continually review the way in which we support people in line with best practice internationally. Our focus going forward is to form a relationship/partnership with each individual and their family, supporting them to plan their own service so that they can enjoy a real life in a real place with a healthy balance of supports. We wish to create opportunities for people who use our service to have valued social roles in their communities and to have the chance to form real friendships. We wish to recruit innovative, creative, visionary people who will relish the opportunity to assist in implementing this vision.

Ionad Cois Cladaigh aims to provide a Community Arts Based, Life Skills Programme for Adults that have an intellectual disability.
Artistic projects are completed to a high standard and the emphasis is on the development of the adult’s life skills by engaging with a wide variety of arts media.
The role:
The successful candidate will be involved in the development and implementation of an Arts Programme for adults with an intellectual disability, which encompasses educational, social, vocational, recreational and personal development. The successful candidate will also have the responsibility of fulfilling a key worker role.
Reporting/Responsible To:
Team Leader/Service Coordinator/Area Manager.

· Individuals supported and families
· Front line staff
· GRETB Tutors
· Multidisciplinary Team
Qualifications/Experience:
Ø Candidates should have a qualification relevant to the health sector/education plus six months experience in designing and implementing art programmes including experience in some or all of the following; drama, dance, media, arts and design including pottery, ceramics and craft textiles, and music programmes.
Ø Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year’s experience in designing and implementing creative arts programmes to enable them to carry out duties of the post together with an appreciation of the needs of persons with an intellectual disability.
Ø Experience in establishing links with the community and community arts programmes is essential.
Ø Experience in working with people who present with complex behaviours is an advantage.
Ø A full clean manual Driver’s Licence is essential as driving the service transport vehicle will be required.
Ø Proficiency in the Irish Language. However, if you are not proficient in the Irish language, the services will support you to develop your proficiency with Irish language classes.
Working Hours:
28 hours a fortnight is based on a 7 day duty roster. The normal working hours will be Monday – Friday but may involve weekend or evening work if required to meet service needs or Personal Outcomes. Contracted hours of work are liable to change over 5 days to meet the requirements of the programme.
Corlann’s model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.
Annual Leave:
22 days pro rata per annum
Remuneration:
Department of Health Supervisor/Instructor salary scale 01/02/2026 - €35,932 x 12 increments - €51,887 pro rata per annum.
Tenure:
This position is permanent part-time and pensionable.
Probation:
A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employer’s discretion.
