The Role:

The Asset Management and Sustainability area is responsible for the development of asset policies, strategies and plans to determine the significant investment required into Ireland’s infrastructure. The area drives investment and the Sustainability and Innovation agenda for the organisation and leads on Environmental Regulation and Compliance activities, ensuring the quality of water and wastewater is continuously monitored. The Asset Management function is responsible for strategic planning, prioritisation, and development of Uisce Éireann’s Capital Works pipeline. The function plays a key role in promoting collaboration and co-ordination of activities across the three asset functions as well as providing environmental assessment and management expertise across Uisce Éireann

The Asset Planning team is accountable for the timely delivery of essential, value for money water services Infrastructure for Ireland. The scope of the team's responsibility covers 5 main areas: Housing Growing, Capex Pipeline, Risk Maintenance and Safety, Critical Assets and Leakage.

Reporting to the Asset Maintenance Planning Manager, the Asset Planning Lead Engineer-Mechanical provides analytical thinking in the planning and delivery of maintenance processes and contribute towards the continued optimisation of the Uisce Éireann maintenance management framework. The role holder will work closely with Asset Operations, Asset Delivery, HSQE, Asset Intelligence and other Uisce Éireann Functions to drive maintenance management projects and initiatives across the organisation.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of the Uisce Éireann Maintenance Management Strategy;
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and optimisation of asset maintenance plans
  • Carry out analysis of maintenance reports to identify opportunities for optimisation;
  • Ensure that maintenance related reports provide insights to cost, risk and performance to focus maintenance management across Uisce Éireann and deliver on the strategic objectives set by the Uisce Éireann Management Team;
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships within Uisce Éireann and our stakeholder community to drive evidence based decision making for the successful implementation and continuous improvement of maintenance management;
  • Provide reactive and proactive engineering expertise and/or experience as required to inform maintenance management decision making; 
  • Contribute to the evolution of asset standards by providing the evidence based insights from the maintenance management process;
  • Contribute to the implementation of standards and best practices relating to maintenance management and reporting, in accordance with, and supportive of, regulatory requirements and company objectives;
  • Contribute to the setting of operational performance indicators relative to maintenance management data;
  • Contribute to achieving the objectives and targets of the Asset Management business plans from a maintenance management perspective;
  • Perform other such duties in relation to work and asset management as may be required.

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business.
  • Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards. 
  • Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives.
  • Provide visible leadership for your team, coaching and developing them to achieve their full potential and deliver business objectives, promoting collaboration and highlighting the behaviours that are expected from everyone in the team.
  • Other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in the planning, development or delivery of national or regional maintenance programmes relevant to the water, utilities or similar industries.
  • Relevant third level qualification and or accreditation is desirable and or relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ Experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective strategic partnerships with key stakeholders internally and externally 
  • Proven track record of creating a collaborative environment and communicate clearly within the team
  • Proven track record with dealing with complex issues, proactively and in a timely fashion along with the ability to communicate complex information to others
  • Experience in managing end-to-end processes to ensure delivery meets customer expectations 
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements, and propose and implement solutions
  • Demonstrate adaptability and the ability to change focus and direction in line with business strategy and requirements
  • Proactively identifying new areas of improvement and using newly gained knowledge and skill on the job
  • Skilled in continuously reviewing safety practices and suggest ways for improvement
