Assistant Manager

Purpose of the Role

To work in conjunction with the Cash & Carry Manager to ensure the Value Centre operates in a professional, compliant and profitable manner. This will be achieved through effective management of operational policies, procedures and employees.

Key responsibilities will include

  • To deputise in the absence of the Cash & Carry Manager and to carry out any duties as required
  • Ensuring invoicing, routing and dispatch disciplines are in line with best practice
  • Ensuring compliance with the Wholesale Standards Programme
  • Work in conjunction with the Manager in relation to effective replenishment and stock control in line with company procedures, whilst also ensuring stock availability to meet customer needs
  • Contribute to the effective management and reduction of wastage within the branch
  • Ensure security of Cash & Carry is maintained, protecting employees and stock
  • Ensure the effective supervision of employees in the Value Centre, as directed
  • To contribute to the operation of the branch in a customer focused/friendly manner –
  • Customer focused – will engage directly with walk in customers and through phone queries as well as ensuring service through delivered business is at the highest level
  • Ensuring the branch is health and safety compliant
Job requirements

The successful candidate will

  • Be a highly motivated self-starter, with good communication skills.
  • Have a minimum 2 – 3 years assistant manager/supervisor experience in grocery, licenced or catering trade
  • Have a good knowledge of warehouse operations
  • Have the ability to manage day-to-day floor operation of the Cash & Carry, including staff, stock control, deliveries & merchandising.
  • Have previous buying and stock control experience (advantageous)
  • IT & Systems proficient with further integration of progressive technologies pending
  • Be Flexible and the ability to multitask is essential.
  • Be prepared to further up skill through internal initiatives
  • Be results driven and have a clear desire to learn and progress in the future by displaying the required competencies
  • Have an understanding of HACCP.
  • A full clean driving licence.
