Assistant Manager

Purpose of the Role
To work in conjunction with the Cash & Carry Manager to ensure the Value Centre operates in a professional, compliant and profitable manner. This will be achieved through effective management of operational policies, procedures and employees.
Key responsibilities will include
- To deputise in the absence of the Cash & Carry Manager and to carry out any duties as required
- Ensuring invoicing, routing and dispatch disciplines are in line with best practice
- Ensuring compliance with the Wholesale Standards Programme
- Work in conjunction with the Manager in relation to effective replenishment and stock control in line with company procedures, whilst also ensuring stock availability to meet customer needs
- Contribute to the effective management and reduction of wastage within the branch
- Ensure security of Cash & Carry is maintained, protecting employees and stock
- Ensure the effective supervision of employees in the Value Centre, as directed
- To contribute to the operation of the branch in a customer focused/friendly manner –
- Customer focused – will engage directly with walk in customers and through phone queries as well as ensuring service through delivered business is at the highest level
- Ensuring the branch is health and safety compliant
The successful candidate will
- Be a highly motivated self-starter, with good communication skills.
- Have a minimum 2 – 3 years assistant manager/supervisor experience in grocery, licenced or catering trade
- Have a good knowledge of warehouse operations
- Have the ability to manage day-to-day floor operation of the Cash & Carry, including staff, stock control, deliveries & merchandising.
- Have previous buying and stock control experience (advantageous)
- IT & Systems proficient with further integration of progressive technologies pending
- Be Flexible and the ability to multitask is essential.
- Be prepared to further up skill through internal initiatives
- Be results driven and have a clear desire to learn and progress in the future by displaying the required competencies
- Have an understanding of HACCP.
- A full clean driving licence.
