Assistant Psychologist

Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT)

12 month Fixed-Term Contract

This is an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist to join St. Michael’s House and work on a CDNT to support children, and their families, presenting with complex needs arising from a disability.

The Assistant Psychologist will carry out clinical and administrative duties that support the Psychologists’ and the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) in providing a high-quality service to children and young people with complex needs arising from their disability. The Assistant Psychologist always works under the supervision of a qualified Psychologist.

The successful candidate must have the following:

Essential Criteria- Minimum requirements for short listing

  • Candidates must hold an honours graduate qualification in Psychology and be eligible for Graduate Membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland.
  • Work experience in a clinical or educational setting, preferably with children with a disability, in a paid or voluntary capacity.
  • Evidence of an understanding of the role and practice of psychology in Children’s Disability Network Teams (CDNT’s).

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Progressing Disability Services for Children and Young People programme (PDS).
  • Additional qualifications or training relevant to the post
  • Experience working as part of a team.
  • Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills and an enthusiastic and flexible attitude to work.

Governance and supervision are in accordance with The Psychological Society of Ireland Guidelines for the Employment of Assistant Psychologists in Ireland.

Travelling is required as part of the position and travel costs incurred will be provided in line with organisational policy and procedures. You will need access to your own vehicle and a full driver licence.

Salary scale (single-point) : €33,237 based on a 5 day working week, 35 hours per week.

A panel (12 months) will be created for future employment opportunities, across the 4 St Michael’s House Children’s Disability Network Teams.
