Assistant Staff Officer (Grade IV) Bookings & Validation - Permanent Full-time (35 hours per week)
Purpose of Post
· Ensuring the efficient and effective scheduling of theatre lists, processing of patient
Bookings/Validation including the organisation, scheduling of theatre lists, as required.
· Ensuring as with ethos of B&V Dept, the provision of the highest quality of service to all our patients in friendly, safe and caring environment.
· Ensure provision of and effective, efficient service in a timely manner with equal access for all our patients
· Ensure the day-to-day management of waiting lists and associated activities
· Participate with the Booking and Validation Manager, Booking & Validation Supervisor, key stakeholders and the other staff members in the Bookings and Validation Department in ensuring the efficient and effective planning and management of the organisation of theatre lists, as required.
· Management and booking of waiting lists in line with the SSWHG IDPP
Qualifications & Experience
A candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of applications for the post:
(i) Meet the Department of Health & Children’s educational criteria set down for Grade IV posts
(ii) Have knowledge of arrangements for the processing of public & private patients in a public hospital
(iii) Have experience in scheduling patients
(iv) Have experience in dealing with patients, staff and public
(v) Have sufficient knowledge and experience of health service provision, particularly as applies to the Irish acute hospital setting
(vi) Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
(vii) Have excellent organisational skills, negotiations skills and influencing skills
(viii) Have excellent numerical skills and analytical skills
(ix) Have excellent typing skills
(x) Be solution focused
(xi) Demonstrate sufficient administrative capacity to discharge the post including good IT skills and a working knowledge of the Patient Administration System (iPMS)
(xii) Have a high capacity for responsibility & individual initiative
Desirable
(i) Knowledge of the National Inpatient, Day Case, Planned Procedure (IDPP) Waiting List Management Protocol
(ii) Knowledge of Trust in Care
