This post is located in Mallow General Hospital (MGH) which is part HSE South West regional healthcare area. Under the reconfiguration of services Cork & Kerry, Mallow General Hospital has been designated a Model 2 Hospital.

Mallow General Hospital is a Model 2 Hospital with 71 inpatient beds (increasing to 95 in 2026). The hospital provides inpatient, outpatient and day patient services. The services provided in the hospital include – general medicine, cardiology, respiratory, gerontology and gastro-enterology.

In patient medical activity is supported by a Medical Assessment Unit and a High Dependency Unit.

Mallow General Hospital also provides elective day surgery, endoscopy, injuries unit, outpatient department, laboratory, physiotherapy, and radiology including CT scanning and ultrasound services.

The academic partner is University College Cork and Mallow General Hospital facilitates medical students, nursing students and allied health professional students.
