Hours of Work

The appointee will be required to work 35 hours per week together with such additional hours as required for the proper discharge of their duties.

Annual Leave

23 days annual leave. Annual Leave will be in accordance with arrangements authorised by the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science from time to time.

Information about Department and Function

Located within the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, the Extended Campus Department operates as a dedicated unit focused on the design and delivery of work-based learning programmes in collaboration with a diverse range of industry partners, including Horse Racing Ireland, Irish Defence Forces, Dublin Fire Brigade, Lloyds Pharmacy Ireland, and ESB Training Networks.

The Department offers a fast-paced, dynamic, and professional working environment, delivering a broad portfolio of academic programmes that lead to major, minor, and special purpose awards across Levels 6 to 9 on the NFQ. These programmes are designed with flexibility and industry relevance at their core, supporting lifelong learning and workforce development.

As part of its continued growth and expansion, the Department now invites applications for the role of Operations and Support Officer to join the Extended Campus team, contributing to the coordination, delivery, and ongoing development of innovative, industry-aligned educational initiatives.

Overview of Role and Context

The Operations and Support Officer plays a pivotal administrative role in enabling the effective delivery of the department’s flexible and industry-focused programmes. Operating within a fast-paced environment, the post holder will support the coordination of key activities across the programme lifecycle, including student registration, academic administration, and day-to-day operational logistics.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Reporting to the Head of Extended Campus, the role acts as a central point of contact for students, lecturers, and internal stakeholders, ensuring clear and timely communication.

Key responsibilities include coordinating programme schedules, supporting lecturer engagement, and assisting with the administration of assessments, examinations, and graduation processes. The post holder will also maintain accurate records, contribute to quality assurance procedures, and liaise with internal units and external partners to support smooth programme delivery.

The role requires excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively. It offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the continued growth and successful delivery of innovative, work-based learning initiatives within a collaborative and professional team environment.

Academic Qualifications

At least Grade D3 in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination (higher, ordinary, applied or vocational programmes) or equivalent or have passed an examination at the appropriate level within the QQI qualifications framework which can be assessed as being comparable to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent or higher or have appropriate relevant experience which encompasses equivalent skills and expertise.

Experience

Be capable and competent of fulfilling the role to a high standard.

Specific Knowledge and Skills

Have the requisite knowledge, skills and competencies to carry out the role.

I.T. Skills

Excellent computer skills with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel, Outlook and use of other IT systems.

Specific Personal Qualities

Be capable of working in a dynamic team environment.
