The Faculty of Business, Arts and Humanities at South East Technological University is seeking an organised and proactive Assistant Staff Officer to join our growing administrative team. The Faculty has three departments providing undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees in a wide range of important fields including Business, Sport, Media, Marketing and Humanities.

The Faculty of Business, Arts and Humanities is seeking a Grade IV Assistant Staff Officer to work in this vibrant and dynamic Faculty as part of a team, supporting the Head of Faculty, Heads of Departments, Faculty Administrators and Department staff to meet the goals and objectives of the Faculty and Departments and deliver quality services to learners and other key stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation and administration of work practices supporting the Faculty and Departments, while promoting and maintaining best practice.
The successful candidate will carry out tasks appropriate to a Grade IV role as assigned by the relevant manager and will work closely with colleagues within the Faculty and across SETU’s other functional areas.
Key Responsibilities / Duties
• Carry out clerical and administrative duties within the Faculty Office as required.
• Support learners with queries and the processing of forms that are submitted to the Faculty Office.
• Support the gathering and processing of Faculty data as per the SETU Academic Data Schedule, SETU Retention Schedule and GDPR requirements.
• Assist the Senior Staff Officer in the preparation of examination boards and associated examination processes.
• Access SETU systems such as Banner, Blackboard, Agresso and other SETU IT platforms for inputting and reviewing data and providing information as required by staff.
• Provide administration to Faculty committees such as the Health & Safety Committee, Research Boards, Ethics Committee and others as assigned by the Head of Faculty.
• Liaise with the Graduate Studies Office and other central functional units in the collation and processing of information relating to postgraduate students, quality assurance and report writing in the Faculty.
• Engage with learners, staff and other functional areas across the University as required.
• Support seasonal activities such as conferring ceremonies, events, student orientation, open days, etc., as appropriate.
• Carry out such other appropriate duties as may be assigned by the Head of Faculty from time to time.
Academic Qualifications
Have obtained at least Grade D3 in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination (higher, ordinary, applied or vocational programmes) or equivalent, or have passed an examination at the appropriate level within the QQI qualifications framework which can be assessed as being comparable to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent or higher, or have appropriate relevant experience which encompasses equivalent skills and expertise.

• Have the requisite knowledge, skills and competencies to carry out the role.
• Be capable and competent of fulfilling the role to a high standard.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Assistant Staff Officer Salary Scale: €39,099 - €55,460
(Based on rates effective 1 February 2026)
