Job Title: Automation Engineer

Reports To: Senior Manager Quality Control

Department: Information Technology

Location: Remote, Ireland

Summary Prometric is looking to hire an Automation Engineer to drive quality and non-functional testing across the technology organisation. Automation Engineer’s work in cross functional teams to implement automated testing to support the release trains. Without supervision design, develop, and integrate tests into our automation frameworks, identify poor performing tests and implement fixes to increase reliability, log defects, test scalability of systems, and provides status reports on the progress of tasks.

Main Objectives and Activities

·Is a member of the non-functional test team performing and assisting withautomation testing.

·Developing back-end (API, Service) and front end (Web UI) automation usingautomated tools.

·Enhance ourautomation frameworks to help integrate automated tests seamlessly into the current Development process and earlier in the SDLC

· Contribute and maintain automation testing standards, tools, techniques, and processes

· Contribute to automated test suites based on acceptance criteria, maintain tests; track outcomes, and monitor for inconsistent results.

· On-going automation of manual tests and subsequent integration into automated regression test suites.

· Provides support for the production readiness evaluation process which includes developing automated Post Deployment Testing.

· Participates in the post implementation reviews. Makes improvement suggestions and implements lessons learned.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline OR typically 2 to 5 years’ experience in QC or Development role
  • Strong understanding of QC processes and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) / Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC)
  • Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals, algorithms, and data structures.
  • Knowledge of SQL Databases
  • Knowledge of Event and HTTP Architectures
  • Experience working with REST API
  • Experience developing back-end (API, Service) and front end (Web UI) automation using automated tools.
  • Experience using API/UI/RPA automation testing tools; Ready API, Selenium, Cypress, Power Automate, any other related tool.
  • Knowledge of API/UI performance testing tools; load runner cloud, JMeter, gatling, locust, any other related tool.
  • Good understanding of the inverse pyramid of automation (Unit, Integration/Mid-Level and Acceptance Tests)
  • Must be able to work directly with the scrum teams to determine the health of a feature and clearly communicate the health to others.
  • Experience mentoring junior team members, overseeing code quality, and evangelizing best practices
  • Good knowledge of open-source technologies
  • Has experience with some of the following: Windows O/S, Browser compatibility, GIT, Azure DEV OPS, CI/CD, Oracle or rational DBs, SQL, UNIX/LINUX user commands/editors/shell scripts, web services, batch file scripting & testing C# based applications, selenium, VMware, developing API and Service level tests, Page Object Modelling.
  • Good oral and written communications, an ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding. Fluency in English is essential

Desired Skills

  • Formal training in SQA methods e.g., ISTQB training.
  • Is proficient in the use of some of the supported Automation Tool suites
  • Agile and DevOps experience including CI/CD
