Join our team at the Student Union, Ulster University Magee Campus, where you'll play a key role in delivering an outstanding food and beverage experience in a vibrant, student-focused environment. As a Bar Supervisor, you will lead by example in a fast-paced hospitality setting, ensuring exceptional customer service, maintaining high operational standards, and supporting your team to create a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff and visitors.
The successful candidate will have previous supervisory experience in a hospitality or bar environment, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering outstanding service. You will also be responsible for cash handling, stock control, food safety, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and support the day-to-day operation of the bar and service areas.
Prepare, serve and present food and beverages
Maximise sales opportunities through excellent product knowledge and upselling.
Operate the till accurately, process payments and balance cash records.
Assist with stock ordering, deliveries, stock rotation and inventory control.
Ensure all food safety, hygiene and Health & Safety procedures are followed.
Support hospitality events and campus functions as required.
Lead, motivate and support colleagues to deliver excellent service.
Attend all mandatory training sessions and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Criteria
Previous supervisory experience within a bar, hospitality or catering environment.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Experience handling cash and maintaining accurate records.
Flexible approach with the ability to work evenings, weekends and busy event periods.
Desirable Criteria
Minimum of 2 years' experience working as a bartender or bar supervisor.
Experience in stocktaking and inventory management.
Food Safety/HACCP qualification.
NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Hospitality, Food Service or a related discipline.
