Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Qualification in Hospitality, Catering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Barista qualification
  • Food Safety/HACCP certification

Desirable

  • Education and Training qualification and experience or Train the Trainer qualification and experience
  • Lámh Training

Experience:

The ideal candidate will have;

  • Experience working as a Barista within a commercial café environment.
  • Experience delivering Barista or Hospitality training.
  • Experience supervising or managing café operations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational and scheduling abilities.
  • Experience liaising with suppliers and managing stock.
  • Experience coordinating corporate bookings and customer relationships.
  • Ability to design, develop and implement vocational training programmes.
  • Ability to break down practical skills into manageable learning steps suited to individual learning styles.
  • Compassion, kindness and patience.
  • High levels of energy, enthusiasm and motivation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of working with adults with Down syndrome is a distinct advantage.
  • Experience working within the disability, community or voluntary sector is desirable.

Essential Requirements for Employment

· Garda Vetting.

· Relevant experience.

· Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and lifelong learning.

  • Full clean driving license.
  • Access to own vehicle and ability and confidence to tow a single axle coffee trailer.
  • Flexibility to work across the week, including evenings and weekends, to facilitate learner training, corporate bookings, fundraising and community events.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and training.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Teaching and Learner Development
  • Deliver engaging practical Barista and Hospitality training.
  • Teach learners practical skills including:
  • Coffee preparation
  • Customer service
  • Food safety and hygiene
  • Café presentation
  • Till operation
  • Communication skills
  • Teamwork
  • Time management
  • Cleaning procedures
  • Workplace behaviour
  • Employability skills
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs.
  • Encourage learner confidence, independence and self-advocacy.
  • Monitor learner progress and celebrate achievements.
  • Foster a positive, respectful and enjoyable learning environment.
Administrative and Organisational Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate learner records and attendance.
  • Prepare weekly schedules and programme documentation.
  • Maintain stock records and ordering systems.
  • Assist with programme reporting and evaluation.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with GDPR.
  • Support fundraising, promotional activities and organisational events.
Safeguarding and Compliance
  • Follow all DSI safeguarding procedures and organisational policies.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety requirements.
  • Promote the rights, dignity and wellbeing of all learners.
  • Complete all mandatory safeguarding and compliance training.
  • Report any concerns to the Operations Manager.
Additional Duties
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role.
  • Support DSI fundraising, promotional and community activities.
  • Contribute positively to achieving DSI's vision, mission and organisational values and work with professionalism at all times.
