Business Support Manager
Part of Grafton Group Plc, Chadwicks Group is the market leader in the builder’s merchanting industry in the Republic of Ireland. The core business is through the traditional Builders Merchants division.
Cork Builders Providers was formed in 1990 and has grown to become the single largest builder's providers site in Ireland and the UK. From our purpose-built premises at West Link, Togher Industrial Estate, Cork, we supply the complete range of construction products to all sectors of the industry.
Principle Objective
Cork Builders Providers is seeking a highly organised and adaptable Business Support Manager to oversee key internal functions across HR, IT, and general business operations.
This is a pivotal, hands-on role responsible for supporting the day-to-day running of the business. The successful candidate will act as the central point of coordination for people management processes, internal systems and operational support, ensuring the organisation runs efficiently and remains compliant.
Knowledge & Experience
- Proven experience in a similar all-round business support, operations or office management role in an operational-led environment (Builders Merchant, Retail, Manufacturing, Hospitality etc.)
- Strong working knowledge of HR systems and processes and employee lifecycle
- Good IT literacy with the ability to troubleshoot common systems and hardware issues
- Experience liaising with external service providers (e.g. IT, telecoms, benefits)
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Key Responsibilities
HR & People Management
- Manage daily workforce administration using our People XD system, including time and attendance (clock-ins, missed timings), sickness, holidays, and rostering
- Oversee payroll inputs including overtime approvals and monthly payroll cut-off coordination
- Maintain employee records including contracts, temporary contracts, and leaver processing
- Coordinate onboarding of new employees, including documentation and system setup
- Manage probationary reviews, employee changes (rates, roles, schedules), and HR updates
- Support recruitment administration and employee lifecycle processes
- Handle employee queries and support disciplinary processes when required
- Administer pensions and benefits (including VHI)
- Manage training systems (e.g. MyLearning, colleague courses) and support staff development tracking
- Approve expenses and monitor workforce costs
- Provide weekly reporting to the Managing Director on timesheets and overtime
IT & Systems Support
- Act as the first point of contact for internal IT support issues
- Set up new users across systems (Outlook, Accustar and other internal platforms)
- Manage IT onboarding processes including new user forms and system access
- Coordinate with external providers for IT infrastructure and system support
- Troubleshoot day-to-day hardware issues (PCs, scanners, printers, monitors, etc.)
- Manage mobile phone ordering, setup and support
- Provide support for internal telephony (IP phones) and payment systems (card machines)
- Maintain communications room equipment and general IT infrastructure
Business Systems & Operational Support
- Maintain system settings including default deals and customer pricing agreements
- Oversee maintenance of pricing files (e.g. cyber price files)
- Support CCTV systems and general site technology needs
- Manage printer maintenance and consumables (e.g. paper ordering)
- Ensure smooth day-to-day operational support across the business
Compliance & Data Protection
- Act as GDPR Officer, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations
- Maintain data security practices and oversee appropriate handling of sensitive information
Contract Type
- Permanent
- Full time 39 hour contract
- Working week Monday to Friday, may be required to take part in the Saturday roster
