CAD Technician

Contract: Permanent Contract

Location : Innovation Centre, Carrigtwohill, Cork

Hours: 39 Hour Week - 8.00 am - 4.30 pm with some flexibility.

Hybrid: Minimum one day on-site per week.

Generate 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) models which are used for detailed drawings of finished medical devices, sub-assemblies, components and related manufacturing equipment. Draft assembly, sub-assembly and component drawings as required for manufacture and repair of products, jigs and fixtures. Aid the design and prototype process by generating rapid prototype 3D printed components.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide support to R&D, AO and GQO personnel for the generation and maintenance of 3D CAD models, engineering drawings and specifications for finished products, sub-assemblies, components, raw materials, jigs and fixtures.
  • Perform extensive engineering related computations. Prepare CAD models, drawings and estimates based upon designs made by engineers. Check drawing calculations and tolerances. Make recommendations as necessary.
  • Manage CAD data in PLM system.
  • Will be required to comply with documentation and CAD procedures for the creation, maintenance and control of all product related documentation including engineering drawings, engineering specifications and graphic artwork.
  • May be required to develop and maintain CAD related procedures.
  • Provide guidance to Co op/Intern on CAD modelling and drawing methods.
  • Generate 3D printed components.

Qualifications Knowledge Skills

  • Level 6 degree in an Engineering discipline or relevant.
  • Experience in a CAD position in a regulated environment.
  • Working knowledge of Creo or another High-Level CAD system required.
  • Ability to read, understand and generate complex engineering drawings.
  • A good understanding of geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Ability to visualize 2D and 3D CAD component geometry.
  • Must be able to observe and correct minute inconsistencies (e.g. in the printed word, product appearance, etc.).
  • Demonstrated mechanical reasoning.
  • Demonstrated a high level of mechanical/mathematical skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced computer hardware/software skills.
  • Must be able to complete detailed documentation accurately.
  • Must be able to plan, organize, and implement multiple concurrent tasks and projects.
